Editing component capability details

This page allows you to define the component capability details for the selected work center. Tell me more.
Select the “Edit Component Capability” link at the bottom of the main page.
The “Edit Component Capability” page appears.
The system displays the following fields in the “Work Center Details” group box::
Work Center # |
The work center to which the component must be associated. This work center must be of Work Center Class “Execution”. |
Work Center Type |
The type of the work center, which could be “Hangar”, “Bay”, "Shop", "Line" or “Others”. |
Work Center Description |
The textual description of the work center. |
Enter the following field:
Component Effectivity Basis |
Use the drop-down list box to define the effectivity basis for a work center. The system lists the options:

If parts or part groups have already been associated to the work center, the system displays the details in the “Component Capability Details” multiline. You can associate more components to the work center by entering the following field in the multiline:
Part # / Group |
The number identifying the part number or part group (Alphanumeric, 20) Mandatory. Data entry in this field is mandatory, if a value is specified in any other field in the "Component Capability Details" multiline. Ensure that the part or the part group entered is “Active” and is defined in the “Create Parts Main Information” activity or the “Create Part Group” activity of the “Part Administration” business component. If a part group is entered, ensure that the “Purpose” field is set to “Capability Definition” and the “Controlled?” field to “Yes” for the specified part group, in the “Create Part Group” activity of the “Part Administration” business component. Help facility available. |
Note: In the event of modifying the component part number, the system displays an error message if you enter a component part number that is already associated to this work center.
The system displays the following fields in the multiline, after clicking the “Edit Component Capability” pushbutton.
Associated Part Applicability |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the work center applicability for the part. The system lists the following options:
The system leaves this field blank by default. |
Maintenance Type Effectivity |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the maintenance type for the part number or part group for which the work center is capable. The system lists all the maintenance types defined in the "Common Master" business component along the values “All”, "Engineering Document" and "Fleet Campaign Directive". If the “Maintenance Type Effectivity” field is set as “All” for the “Part # / Group”, then ensure that no other maintenance type effectivity is selected for the same part # / part group in the multiline. The system sets this field to “All” by default. Do not leave this field blank. |
Note: Ensure that the “Part # / Group” and “Maintenance Type Effectivity” combination is not repeated in the multiline.
The system displays the following fields in the multiline, after clicking the “Edit Component Capability” pushbutton.

Enter the following field:
Remarks |
Any additional remarks pertaining to the component capability details (Alphanumeric, 255). |
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to mark the part or part group for deletion or to define work units for the component.
Click the Delete icon in the tool bar above the multiline, to delete the parts or part gorups selected in the multiline.
Click the “Edit Component Capability” pushbutton to associate the part or part group to the work center.
Note: The system fills in the “Description” and “Maintenance Type Effectivity” fields in the multiline and defines the association between the component part and the work center.
To proceed, carry out the following
Select the “Edit Maintenance Type Capability” link at the bottom of the page to define the maintenance type capability details for the part or part group.
Associating components to work centers - An overview
This activity allows you to associate the part or part groups, on which maintenance activities are to be carried out, to the work centers. You can also view the details of the components that have been associated earlier.
You can associate the part or part groups to the work center by specifying the part or part group number. Also you can specify whether all the maintenance types are applicable to be performed on the part or part group. The maintenance type details can be defined in the "Edit Maintenance Type Capability" page. You can re-define the association between the parts or part groups and the work centers.
