Associating facilities to work centers

This page allows you to associate facilities to work centers. Tell me more.

Select the “Associate Facilities” link at the bottom of the “Select Work Center #” page.

The “Associate Facilities” page appears.

The system displays the following fields in the “Work center Details” group box::

Work Center #	The work center to which the facility must be associated. This work center must be of Work Center Class “Execution”.
Work Center Type	The type of the work center, which could be “Hangar”, “Bay”, "Shop", "Line" or “Others”.
Work Center Description	The textual description of the work center.

Enter the following field:

Facility Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the type of the facility, to be associated to the work center. The system provides the options “Equipment”, “Tools” and “Others” and displays “Tools” by default.

Click the “Get Details” pushbutton to display the details of the facilities that have already been associated to the work center.

The system displays the following field:

Currency

The currency code as defined for the login organizational unit. This currency code is defined in the "Enterprise Set Up" business component.

If facilities have already been associated to the work center, the system displays the details in the “Facility Details” multiline. You can associate more facilities to the work center by entering the following fields in the multiline:

Facility #	The number identifying the facility (Alphanumeric, 40) Mandatory. Ensure that the facility has already been defined in the “Create Facilities” activity.
	Help facility available.

Note: In the event of modifying the facility number, the system displays an error message if you enter a facility number that is already associated to this work center.

The system displays the following fields in the multiline on clicking the “Associate Facilities” pushbutton:

Facility Description	The textual description of the facility.
Capacity	The capacity of the facility in units.

Enter the following fields in the multiline:

Scheduling Influencer	Use the drop-down list box to indicate whether capacity constraints of the facility is impacting task scheduling in the work center. The drop-down list box displays No and Yes. By default, this field displays ‘No’.
Significant Constraints	Use the drop-down list box to indicate whether the facility is facing substantial constraints impacting scheduling of tasks. The drop-down list box displays No and Yes. By default, this field displays ‘No’.
Efficiency	The efficiency factor for the facility in the work center.
Available Nos	The quantity of identifiable facility objects that must be associated to the facility (Decimal, 20) Mandatory. Ensure that you define at least one object for the facility.
Rate / Hr	The hourly rate of the facility (Decimal). Mandatory. Ensure that the number entered is positive.
Service Area	Use the drop-down list box to specify the area in which the facility can serve. For example, the planner of a location can schedule or allocate work to the work center, only if the location to which the work center is attached, is the service area for that planner. The system provides the options “Current work center”, “Child work center” and “All work centers”.
	Current work center - if the employee can serve only in the current work center.
	Child work center - if the employee can serve in all the child work centers that belong to the hierarchy of the current work center, including the current work center.
	All Work centers - if the employee can serve in all the work centers associated to the login organizational unit. Current Station Work Center – If the employee can serve in the current station-work center combination.

Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to mark the facility for deletion or to define the facility objects.
Click the Delete icon in the tool bar above the multiline, to delete the facilities selected in the multiline.
Click the “Associate Facilities” pushbutton to associate the facilities to the work center.

Note: The system fills in the “Facility Description”, “Capacity” and “Currency” fields in the multiline and creates the association between the facilities and the work centers.

Select the “Associate Facility Objects” link at the bottom of the page to define facility objects to the selected facilities.

Associating facilities to work centers – An overview

This activity allows you to associate facilities to work centers. Details of the facilities, that have already been associated to the work center, such as facility number, facility description, capacity, quantity, currency and rate, are displayed in the multiline. You can re-define the association between the facilities and the work centers by adding facilities or deleting the facilities that are already associated. You can associate the facility to the work center by directly entering the facility number if you are aware of the exact number. Otherwise, you can use the help facility to search for a particular facility number.

Using this activity, you can also define facility objects and associate it to the facilities. Facility objects are the identifiable units of a facility. For example, if lathe is a facility then the individual serial number of the lathe is a facility object.

Associate facilities to work centers

You can associate facilities that are already defined in the “Create Facilities” activity, to the work center.

Select the appropriate facility type in the “Facility Type” drop-down list box.
Enter the facility number that you wish to associate to the work center in the “Facility Details” multiline.
Enter the quantity and the rate per hour for the facility in the multiline.
