Part independent conversion is a conversion of a standard UOM to another, where the conversion does not depend on the nature of the part. Tell me more

From UOM

The code identifying the UOM to be converted (Alphanumeric, 10). Mandatory. This UOM code must have already been defined in the “Create UOM” activity and must be in “Active” status.

To UOM

The code identifying the UOM, to which the UOM in the “From UOM” field must be converted (Alphanumeric, 10). Mandatory. This UOM code must have already been defined in the “Create UOM” activity and must be in “Active” status.

Note: The UOMs entered in the “From UOM” and “To UOM” fields cannot be the same.

Conversion Factor

The conversion factor (Decimal). Mandatory. Ensure that this value is greater than zero. You can define only one conversion factor for any given “From” and “To” UOM combination.

Note: By default, the system assumes that the reverse conversion factor for the UOM is the same as the conversion factor entered for the UOM. You can, however, define a different conversion factor by interchanging the UOMs entered in the “From UOM” and “To UOM” fields.

Create UOM Conversion - A summary of the activity

UOM Conversion is a conversion of a standard UOM to another. This page allows you to add the conversion factors for a unique combination of UOMs. You can enter only one conversion factor to convert a particular standard UOM to another. A help facility is provided to retrieve the UOM.

When the conversion of a standard UOM to another, is independent of the nature of the part it is known as the Part independent conversion. The conversion factor is universal in these cases, as in the conversion of Meters to Centimeters or Kilograms to Grams.
