Create UOM Conversion – A summary of the activity

This activity allows you to add UOM conversion factors for a given combination of UOMs.

Standard UOMs are accepted and available universally. Conversion from one such UOM to another is also an accepted convention. In most cases, during conversions, the part is not associated, for example, the conversion of Meters to Centimeters or Kilograms to Grams. These universal conversions are called as Part Independent Conversions. You can add conversion factors for these part independent UOM conversions in this activity. You can enter only one conversion factor for a combination of UOMs

The “Create UOM Conversion” page allows you to add the conversion factor for the UOMs. The “Help on UOM” page provides a facility to search for a particular UOM Code.

In certain cases, conversion from one UOM to another is not dependent on the nature of the part. This is known as Part Independent Conversion. You can define conversion factors for part independent conversions, which helps you to convert from a UOM to another UOM.

•     For part dependent conversions, the conversion factors for UOMs are defined in the “Part Administration” business component.

• Use the “Create Part Independent UOM Conversion” page to specify the conversion factor for converting from one UOM to another.
