Select the “Authorize Task” link under the “Maintenance Task” business component.
The “Authorize Tasks” page appears.
The system displays the following field:
Date Format |
The format in which the date fields appears in this page. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user id. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date format from the “Enterprise Modeling” business component by default. |
Enter the following filter criteria in the “Search Criteria” group box to search for a task. Data entry in the following fields is optional:
Task Applicability |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the applicability of the task to be retrieved, which could be “Aircraft”, “Engine” or “Component”. The system lists all those tasks that are applicable for the item specified here. Leave this field blank if you wish to retrieve details of tasks irrespective of their applicability. The system leaves the field blank by default. |
Base Aircraft Model # |
The number identifying the base aircraft model on which the task can be performed (Alphanumeric, 30). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using “*” character. The system retrieves all the tasks with the base aircraft model number entered here. |
Task # |
The task for which the details are to be retrieved (Alphanumeric, 30). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system lists all the task numbers that are similar to the values entered here. |
Task Description |
Enter the description of the task to be retrieved, in full or specify it partially using the “*” character (Alphanumeric, 150). The system retrieves all the tasks whose descriptions are similar to the description entered here. |
ATA # |
The ATA chapter to which the task is associated (Alphanumeric, 16). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using “*” character. The system retrieves all the tasks that are defined for the ATA chapter entered here. |
Task Category |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the category of the task to be retrieved. The system lists all the “Active” task categories defined in the “Create Quick Codes” activity. The system retrieves all those tasks that are in the category specified here. |
Task Type |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the type of the task to be retrieved, which could be one of the following: “MPD", "CMM", "MOD", "NonRoutine", "Others", or all "Active" quick codes with quick code type as "Task Type". The system retrieves all those tasks of type specified here. The system displays “MPD” by default. |
Operations Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the operation type of the maintenance activity. The system lists the options “FAR-135” and “FAR-145”, if the login user has access rights to “Field Maintenance Task Library”. Else, the system lists only “FAR-145”. The system displays “FAR-145” by default. |
Work Center # |
The number identifying the work center which is primarily responsible for executing the maintenance task (Alphanumeric, 30). |
Note: The system retrieves tasks that are in “Fresh” status, based on according to the filter criteria provided.
Click the “Search” pushbutton to display the search results in the multiline.
Note: The system retrieves only those tasks which are awaiting “Authorization”, as identified in the “Workflow” business component.
The system displays the following fields in the “Search Results” multiline:

The number identifying the base aircraft model on which the task can be performed |

The task to be authorized or returned. |

Operations Type |
The operation type of the maintenance activity. |
Status |
The status of the task. The system displays “Fresh” for all the tasks in the multiline. |
Revision Date |
The date on which the task was last revised. |
Task Type |
The type of task which could be "MPD","CMM","MOD", "NonRoutine" or others. |
ATA # |
The ATA chapter number to indicate the system in which the task must be carried out. |
Work Center # |
The number identifying the work center. |
Enter the following field in the multiline :
Authorization Comments |
Any remark or comment regarding task authorization (Alphanumeric, 255). |
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to select the row containing the task, for authorizing or canceling, or for viewing the task details.
Click the “Authorize Task(s)” pushbutton to authorize the tasks selected in the multiline.
On Authorization, the task status is changed to “Active”

Click the “Return Task(s)” pushbutton to return the tasks selected in the multiline.
The system changes the task status to “Returned”.

To proceed, carry out the following
Select the “Edit Task Information” at the bottom of the page to modify the task details.
Select the “View Task Information” link at the bottom of the page to view the task details.
Select the “View Status Log” link at the bottom of the page to view the task status log details.
Activating tasks – An overview
You can search for the task to be authorized or returned by providing filter criteria such as the task number, description, ATA chapter, category, task applicability or aircraft model. The details of the selected task, such as the task number, its revision number, current status, revision date, category,applicability and aircraft model are displayed.
You can select the tasks that have to be authorized or returned. The system sets the status of the task to “Active” on authorization or approval. The tasks can be returned to the originator for necessary modifications in this activity. On returning the task, the status changes to “Returned”.
The task can be executed only after they are authorized. You can specify the search criteria and select the tasks to be authorized. The system sets the task to “Active” status.
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to select the row containing the task, for authorizing.
Click the “Authorize Task(s)” pushbutton to authorize the tasks selected in the multiline.
You can return the task to the originator for making necessary modification. You can select the tasks and return them. The system changes the status of the task to “Returned”.
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to select the row containing the task.
Click the “Return Task(s)” pushbutton to return the tasks selected in the multiline.
