This page helps you to create a component family. Tell me more.

The “Create  Component Family” page appears.

Component Family #

A unique identifier for the component family (Alphanumeric, 25). Mandatory. This field can be a combination of characters and digits and cannot be left blank. Ensure that the number is unique for the organizational unit.

Part Classification

Use the drop-down list box to specify the classification of component family. The system provides the options "Rotable”, “Repairable” and “Controllable” and displays “Rotable” by default.

Component Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the type of the component that can be defined in the component family, which could be “Engine”, “APU”, “Landing Gear”, or “Others”. Components that are attached to the component family inherit the type defined for the component family. The system sets the field to “Engine” by default.

Component Family Description

The textual description of the component family (Alphanumeric, 80). Mandatory.

ATA #

The ATA chapter to which the component family should belong (Alphanumeric, 16). Ensure that the ATA chapter is already defined in the “Create ATA Chapter” activity and is in “Active” status.

 

Help facility available.

Cargo

Check this box to indicate that the components belonging to this component family are used only in a cargo aircraft.

RVSM

Check this box to indicate that the components belonging to this component family are used in aircraft, which can fly at a height lesser than the reduced vertical separation minimum limit.

MEL

Check this box to indicate that the components belonging to this component family are a part of the minimum equipment list of the aircraft.

Component Family #

The number identifying the component family from which you wish to copy the details (Alphanumeric, 25).

Click this box to copy all the details pertaining to the component family. Details include the ATA chapter, zone, component type, component category and parameters.

 Parameters

Click this box to copy only the details of the parameters that are defined for the component family.

Note: For the aircraft or model with engagement type as “Full Maintenance”, the system only retrieves the mapped base parameters “Flying Hours” and “Flying Cycles”.

The system creates the component family and sets its status to “Active”. It also sets the created date to the current server date.

Create Component Family - A summary of the activity

You can create a component family by providing a unique code and description. You can define the type and classification for the component family. Components that are attached to the component family inherit the type and category defined for the component family.

You can associate the component family to an ATA chapter by entering the ATA chapter number directly, or by selecting the ATA chapter number using the help facility.

The component family can be of classified as rotable, repairable or controllable.

You can specify the type of the component that can be defined in the component family, which could be “Engine”, “APU”, “Landing Gears” or “Others”.

Copy details from an existing component family

You can copy details from component family that are already defined. Details such as ATA chapter, zone, component type, component category and parameters can be copied.

A new component family is created with the copied details.
