Basics of using a typical web page

Using Online Help

This page allows you to attach consumption and range parameters, and also modify the parameters that have already been defined for the selected component family. Tell me more.

The “Edit Consumption & Range Parameter” page appears.

The system displays the following in the “Component Family Details” group box:

Component Family #

The component family selected in the main page for which the consumption and range parameters are to be added or modified.

Component Family Description

The textual description of the component family.

The system lists the parameters that have already been defined for the component family in the “Parameter Details” multiline. Enter the following fields in the multiline if you wish to add more parameters to the component family:

Parameter

The parameter to be attached to the component family (Alphanumeric, 40). Ensure that the parameter is already defined in the “Create Parameters” activity and is of type “Range” or “Consumption”. You must enter the “Consumption” type parameter if the “Formula ID” field is entered.

If the "Parameter Source" of the parameter is specified as 'Parent', then the parameter must be defined in the "Identify Inheritable Parameters" activity.

Help facility available.

The system displays the following details in the multiline on clicking the “Edit  Parameters” pushbutton:

UOM

The unit of measurement of the parameter.

Parameter Type

The type of the parameter, which can be “Consumption” or “Range”.

Life Parameter

Use the drop-down list box and set the field to “Yes”, to set the parameter as a life parameter. The life parameter is the consumption parameter that indicates the life of the equipment. Select “No” if you do not wish to set the parameter as the life parameter.

Parameter Source

Use the drop-down list box to select the parameter source from which the value of the parameter must be updated. The system provides the options “Flight Log”, “Manual”, “Parent”  and “Calculated” . Leave the field blank if you do not wish to indicate the parameter source for the parameter.

  • Flight Log - indicates that the parameter value has to be updated from the flight log.

  • Manual - indicates that the parameter value has to be updated manually.

  •  Parent - indicates that the parameter value has to be updated from the parameter source defined for the parent component.

  • Calculated - indicates that the parameter value is updated based on the formula associated to the parameter. This formula depicts the mathematical relationship of the parameter with the participating parameters. When one or all the participating parameters are updated, the formula based parameter will be automatically updated.

You must select the “Calculated” option in this field if you have entered the “Formula #” field.

Range: From

The minimum number in the range of values for a range parameter (Decimal).

Range: To

The maximum number range in the range of values for a range parameter (Decimal).

Average Value

The average value for a consumption parameter based on which the forecast factor is calculated (Decimal). Data entry in this field is mandatory if the forecast factor and the formula id are not specified.

Forecast Factor

The multiplication factor to forecast the maintenance activity (Decimal). Ensure that the forecast factor is specified only for a consumption parameter. Data entry in this field is mandatory if the average value and the formula id are not specified for the consumption parameter.

Ultimate Life Value

Enter the value identifying the life of the component if you have set the consumption parameter as the life parameter (Decimal). Data entry in this field is mandatory if the consumption parameter has been chosen as the life parameter.

Formula #

The formula to be associated with the consumption parameter (Alphanumeric, 20). The parameter value is updated based on the formula entered in this field, if the “Parameter Source” is selected as “Calculated”.

Ensure that the formula is already defined in the “Formula Builder” business component. Data entry in this field is mandatory if you have not specified the average value and the forecast factor.

Help facility available.

Note: You can specify only one of the following values for a consumption parameter: the average value, forecast factor or the formula id.

The system displays the following fields on clicking the “Edit Parameters” pushbutton:

Formula Content

The contents of the formula entered in the “Formula # field.

Parameter Description

The textual description of the parameter.

Warranty Tracking

Use the drop-down list box to indicate whether the warranty tracking for the parameter is “Applicable” or “Not Applicable”.

Parameter Update

Use the drop-down list to Indicate whether parameter updation is “Mandatory” or “Non-Mandatory” each time when the parameter is updated for the component.

Update Mode

Use the drop-down list box to select the mode on which the parameter value has to be updated. The system lists the following option:

  • Delta – Select this option to indicate that the new parameter value is added with the existing parameter value.

  • New – Select this option to indicate that the parameter value is overwritten by the new parameter value.

The system sets the field to “Delta” by default.

Note: On clicking the “Edit Parameters” pushbutton, the system updates the value “New” in this field for the parameter of type “Range”, even if “Delta” option is selected.

Note: The system attaches the consumption and range parameters to the selected component family, for those rows that are not marked for deletion. It also fills in the “UOM”, “Parameter Type”, “Formula Content” and “Parameter Description” fields in the multiline.

Defining consumption and range parameters for component family – An overview

Edit Component Family - A summary of the activity

In this page you can define consumption and range parameters for component family. You can attach new parameters by entering the parameter directly or by selecting a parameter using the help facility. The parameter source must be specified, to indicate the source from which the value of the parameter can be updated.

You can specify the maximum and minimum range value for range parameters. For the range parameters that are already attached to the component family, you can modify the parameter source and the maximum and the minimum range values.

For consumption parameters you can specify the average value, forecast factor or the formula id for forecasting the next maintenance activity for the components belonging to the component family. You can also set the consumption parameter as a life parameter that indicates the life of the components. If the consumption parameter is set as the life parameter, you must define the ultimate life of the component family. For the existing consumption parameters that are attached to the component family, the parameter source, average value, forecast factor, formula number, and the ultimate life, if the parameter has been identified as the life parameter, can be modified.

Also, you can specify whether warranty tracking is applicable for parameter, whether the parameter has to be updated from the delta value or constant value and whether the parameter value updation is mandatory for the parameter.

Set consumption parameter as life parameter

You can set the consumption parameter as a life parameter, which indicates the life of the equipment. If the consumption parameter is set as the life parameter, you must define the ultimate life of the aircraft model.

Define parameter source for attribute parameter

For attribute parameters, you can specify the parameter source, to indicate the source from which the parameter value must be updated.

Warranty tracking for parameter

You can specify whether the warranty tracking is applicable for the parameters or not.

Specify update mode for the parameter

You can select the mode on which the parameter value has to be updated which could be “Delta” or “New”.
