Change aircraft registration number – A summary of the activity

This activity enables you to change the registration number of the aircraft. The aircraft registration number is the primary identifier for an aircraft. Maintenance and regulatory records related to an aircraft are typically maintained with respect to the aircraft registration number. The registration number of the aircraft may be changed due to several reasons such as:

• During induction of the aircraft, the aircraft may be assigned a temporary registration number and the preliminary actions for the aircraft may be initiated with reference to the temporary registration number. When the actual registration number is assigned to the aircraft by the regulatory authority, the aircraft registration number needs to be changed.

• Regulatory requirements may mandate that an aircraft be re-registered based on the geographical location in which the aircraft is extending service.

• Aircraft may also be re-registered, acquiring a new aircraft registration number, based on customer (for which the aircraft is contracted or service) preferences or types of operations/services rendered.
