Activating / inactivating depreciation rule
This page allows you to view the depreciation rule details before activating or inactivating. You can view the number identifying the depreciating rule, its description, the method in which the assets are to be depreciated, the basis of depreciation, maximum and the minimum depreciation, the convention that is followed while depreciating.
The system updates the status of the depreciation rule to “Active” on activating and “Inactive” on inactivating. The system also stores the login ID of the user to the last modified by and the system date to the last modified date.
Select the “Activate/Inactivate Rule” link at the bottom of the “Select Rule” page.
The “Activate/Inactivate Depreciation Rule” page appears.
The system displays the following fields:
Status |
The status of the depreciation rule. |
Asset Class Code |
The code identifying the asset class. |
Depreciation Rule No. |
The number identifying the depreciation rule. |
Rule Description |
The textual description pertaining to the depreciation rule. |
Depreciation Method |
The method in which the assets are to be depreciated. |
Basis |
The basis on which the assets are depreciated. |
Effective From Date |
The date from which the depreciation rule is effective. |
Yearly Percentage |
Indicates whether the yearly percentage is applicable for an asset. |
Depreciation Rate Id |
The code identifying the depreciation rate. |
Useful Life of Asset |
The number of years in which the assets could be of use. |
Maximum Depreciation |
The maximum depreciation that can be provided for a depreciation calendar year for a set of assets. |
Minimum Depreciation |
The minimum depreciation that can be provided for a depreciation calendar year for a set of assets. |
Depreciation Convention |
Indicates the convention that is being followed while depreciating. The depreciation convention could be “Prorate”, “Mid Year”, “Mid Period”, “Full Period” and “User Defined”. |
First Year Convention % |
The percentage based on which the depreciation must be calculated. |
The system displays the following fields in the “Depreciation Rate Details” multiline.
Year |
The number of years specified in the “Useful Life of Asset” field. |
Yearly Percentage |
The percentage on which the depreciation must be calculated every year. |
Click the “Active” pushbutton to activate the “Inactive” depreciation rule.
Note: Atleast one depreciation rule must be in “Inactive” status.
The depreciation ID that has been assigned to the depreciation rule must be in “Active” status.
The system updates the status of the depreciation rule to “Active”.
The system stores the login ID of the user to the last modified by and the system date to the last modified date.
Click the “Inactive” pushbutton to inactivate the “Active” depreciation rule.
Note: Atleast one depreciation rule must be in “Active” status.
The depreciation rule cannot be inactivated, if the rule has been assigned to any depreciation category.
The system updates the status of the depreciation rule to “Inactive”.
The system stores the login ID of the user to the last modified by and the system date to the last modified date.
The system displays the following fields:
Create By |
The login ID of the user who created the depreciation rule. |
Created Date |
The date on which the depreciation rule was created. |
Last Modified By |
The login ID of the user who last modified the depreciation rule. |
Last Modified Date |
The date on which the depreciation rule was modified last. |
To proceed, carry out the following
Select the “Activate / Inactivate Rate” link at the bottom of the page to activate / inactivate the depreciation rate.
Select the “Activate / Inactivate Category” link at the bottom of the page to activate / inactivate the depreciation category.
Select the “Activate / Inactivate Calendar” link at the bottom of the page to activate / inactivate the depreciation calendar.
Select the “Function Defaults” link at the bottom of the page to view the function defaults.
