Defining product structure details
This tab allows you to define product structure for the part. The product structure consists of materials or component parts or Phantom Parts for a parent / manufactured part. Constituent parts information for these parts can be defined using this tab, which form the parent / manufactured Part. You can also revise the existing product structure by adding / removing few parts from the product structure. A phantom part can be added as a constituent part, if the Part Source is “Make”.
Select the “Product Structure” tab to define product structure details for the part.

Seq # |
The sequence in which the parts must be processed. |
Part # |
The constituent part of the product structure part. |
The system displays the following:
Part Description |
The textual description of the part. |
Enter the following:
Total Quantity |
The total quantity of the part. |
UOM |
Use the drop-down list box and select the unit of measurement for the part. |
Issue Method |
Use the drop-down list box and select the issue method of the part as “Backflush”, “Auto Backflush” or “Manual”. |
The system displays the following:
Part Source |
The source of the part, which could be “On Loan”, “From Pool”, “Exchanges”, “Make”, Subcontracting” or “Procurement” as defined in the “Maintain Planning Information” activity. |
Enter the following:
Source Strategy |
Use the drop-down list and select the source strategy as “Inventory”, “Procure” or “Make”. |
The system displays the following:
Revision # |
The revision number set to change the sequence of the records when a new constituent part has to be added. |
Part Type |
The type of the part. |
Lower Level Exists? |
Indicates whether lower level exists for the constituent part. |
Drawing Exists? |
Indicates whether engineering drawing exists for the constituent part. The system displays “Yes” or “No”. Click the hyperlinked “Yes” or “No” field to launch “Manage Engineering Drawings” screen. |
Effective From |
The date from which the product structure of the constituent part is effective. |
Effective To |
The date until which the product structure of the constituent part is effective. |
PS Part # |
The product structure part to which the constituent part belongs. |
Enter the following:
PS Class |
Use the drop-down list and select the product structure class. The system lists all the active product structure classes defined for product structure of constituents. |
The system displays the following:
Phantom Part |
Indicates whether the part is a phantom part or not. The system displays “Yes” or “No”. |
Enter the following:
Remarks |
Any remarks related to the product structure. |
The system displays the following:
Message Center |
The error message displayed when processing the records in the multiline. |
Last Modified by |
The name of the user who last modified the record. |
Last Modified Date |
The date on which the record was last modified. |
Click the “Re-Number” pushbutton to resequence the records in the multiline.
Note: The system sorts all the records in the ascending order of 'Seq No' and renumbers the records in the multiples of '5'.
