The Edit Unscheduled Holiday/Working Day activity allows you to reschedule a holiday as a working day, and vice versa, for a specific employment unit.
Unscheduled Holiday: Essentially, you are to change a given working day to a holiday, specify a name for this holiday, and add it to a Holiday Master. To change a working day to a holiday, you are to carry out the following:
Choose the holiday master into which this unscheduled holiday must be included
Enter the date on which the holiday must occur. The date that you enter must refer to a working day
Describe the name of the holiday. In effect, you are adding a new holiday under the holiday master. This holiday is to be applicable only to the employment unit you specify.
When you save the document, the working day will now be a holiday.
Unscheduled Working Day: To change holidays to working days, you are to carry out the following:
Choose the holiday master whose holidays must be converted to working days
Select the holidays under the holiday master
When you save the document, the selected holidays will now be working days.
Applicable to a Specified Employee Unit: Although the original Holiday Master is applicable to all the employment units, the unscheduled working day and holiday will be specific only to the employee units you specify.
Taking Effect: For the unscheduled working days and holidays to take effect, you are to generate the employee schedule and then view the employee timetable. The generated timetable will reflect the new holiday or working day in each employees schedule.
A rota schedule could specify 3 days of shift-A and 2 days of shift-B. If the newly scheduled holiday falls on the 3rd day of shift-A, the employees shift for the day after the holiday will be the 1st day of shift-B. This implies that the newly scheduled holiday only replaces the originally scheduled shift, which is the 3rd day of shift-A. The originally scheduled shift for the day is not moved to the next day.
Implication of Unscheduled Working Days and Holidays: Each rota plan, to which an employee under the specified employment unit is mapped, specifies that Schedule Shift on Holidays is either Yes or No.
¡ Yes implies that scheduling shifts on holidays is allowed.
¡ No implies that scheduling shifts on holidays is not allowed. Therefore, all employees who work on this newly scheduled working day could are entitled to the benefits of working on holidays. This could be overime, compensation off , etc, and the system will take into account the rule specified for overtime or compensation off, for the employees.
