Basics of using Ramco Enterprise series web page

Using online help

This page allows you to select “Recent Activity” or a “Favorites” activity or a “Business Processes”.

The Ramco Enterprise Series home page appears.

The Home page can be displayed in two different formats –

  1. In Normal Menu and

  2. In Deluxe menu format.  

This change can be done by the application administrator through the WEB.Config file available under the folder ..\VirtualWorks\IIS folder in the WEB server.

Under the "Normal" Menu

The system displays your login details at the top right of the home page, as follows.

Login

The ID of the user who has logged in. This is called the user ID.

Role

The role name of the user.

OU

The name of the default organization unit to which the user ID is associated.

On the right side of the login details, the system displays the current date and time based on the time zone.

In the right pane, immediately below your login details, the system displays a row of icons.

Below the row of icons, the Ramco Enterprise Series home page consists of three parallel nodes as “Recent Activities”, “Favorites” and “Business Processes”.

Under the “Recent Activities” node the list of activities which are recently used are displayed.

Under the “Favorites” node the list of activities which are marked as favorites are displayed. The advantage of “Favorites” node is that you can directly select the activities after you log in, without searching for the component name under which it is logically arranged.

Under the “Business Processes” node the list of Business Processes which are applicable to the user-OU combination are displayed.

To select a activity under the “Recent Activities” node

The system displays the main page of the selected activity.

For instance, if the activity “User Information” is listed under the Recent Activities node and if you select it, the system will display the “User Creation” page.

To select a activity under the “Favorites” node

The system displays the main page of the selected activity.

For instance, if the activity Set User Defaults” is listed under the Favorites node and if you select it, the system will display the “Set User Defaults” page.

To select a business process under the “Business Process” node

The system displays the sub menus of the selected menu, in the next page. See Menu item list page.

The system displays the Component Name’s of the selected Business Process in the next page. Under each Component Name you can see the list of activities.

Under the “Deluxe" Menu

The system displays your login details at the top right of the home page, as follows.

User

The name of the user who has logged in.

Organization Unit

The name of the default organization unit to which the user is associated.

Role

The role name of the user.

Only in the home page the login details, date and time are displayed on the top of the page. For the remaining pages the login details, date and time are displayed at the bottom of the page.

In the right pane, immediately below your login details, the system displays a row of icons.

In the left pane, the Ramco Enterprise Series home page consists of three nodes as “Business Processes”, “Recent Activities” and “Favorites”.

To select a activity under the “Recent Activities” node

The system displays the main page of the selected activity.

To select a business process under the “Business Process” node

The system displays the sub menus of the selected menu, in the next page. See Menu item list page.

The system displays the Component Name’s of the selected Business Process in the next page. Under each Component Name you can see the list of activities.

Business Processes

A Business Process consists of one or more components. For example, Deployment Process can be a Business Process consisting of Components such as Administration Process, Deployment Process and Implementation Process.

Component

A Component refers to a set of logical activities that can be independently deployed at a site. For instance, Administration Process is a component, which contains activities such as “User Information” and “Set User Defaults”.

Activity

An activity refers to any action or transaction under a component. For instance, Administration Process is a component, which contains activities such as “User Information” and “Set User Defaults”. An activity involves one or more pages. For example, the activity “User Information” involves one more page as “Password Reminder Questions”. When you are working on a page, you may use multiple pages to carry out the process in the activity.

Page

A Page refers to a single screen. An activity can consist of one or multiple pages.

The Web tool bar

Described below are the icons that you see on the top right of the Ramco Enterprise home page.

Home

Click this icon to take the control back to the Home page from any activity / User Interface launched.  This will close all the open screens graciously and redirect the user to the Home Page.

Change Password

This is not to change the Password Settings but to the change the password itself.

Refresh

This button to re-launch any activity once again.  All the data entered in any screen would be lost on clicking this button.

Close Page

A button that you select on the Web Page tool bar to come out of the Web page without effecting any action that you might have carried out in the Web page. Note that Close Page only ensures that the changes you made after the last Save do not come into effect.

Preferences

Use this button to set the style and format for Numeric, Date and Time displays.

Online Help

A button that you select on the Web Page tool bar to launch the context-sensitive online help for the page.

Personalize

A button that you use to personalize the sequence of fields or the appearance in the multiline.

Logout

A button that you select on the Web Page tool bar to log out of the Ramco Enterprise Series application session.

Context

Use this icon to switch between all possible combinations of Roles and OUs mapped to the logged in user account.

Favorites

Use this button to select activities as your favorites.

Menu

This button toggles, upon selection, between showing the left pane and hiding it. It is located at the top left on the Web page.

New Window

This icon can be used to open the application in another window.  This is a shortcut for opening the application instead of launching another browser instance and manually launching the URL, login by providing a user and password.  System automatically logs in using the current user name and the password of the parent session from where this icon was activated.

About

System displays details about the application installed.  This information can  be further modified to add / modify any data.  This modification can be done by the application administrator through the RVW_About.xml file in the WEB server under the folder ..\Virtualworks\IIS\ILRT.

Defaults

A button that you select on the Web Page tool bar to modify the default values for Role, OU Instance and Language for a User.

Print Screen

This just opens the application page in another windows in a printable format and does not actually print the page.

UDS

A button that you select on the Web Page tool bar to launch a user defined screen associated to the parent screen or a control in the screen.

Shortcut

A button that you select on the Web Page tool bar to create a shortcut key for a selected component, activity and ILBO code.
