Benefits Definition Unit |
Select the organization unit in which you must create benefits program. The drop-down list box displays all the organization units where you have permission to create benefits program. Tell me more |
Program |
From the drop-down list box select the benefit program to which the benefit plan type must be mapped. The drop-down list box displays list of all the benefit programs created in the “Create Benefit Program” activity for the selected benefits definition unit. |
Plan Type code |
The unique code to identify the benefit plans type. |
Plan Type Short Description |
The unique short description of the plan type. |
Plan Type Description |
A brief description of the plan type. |
Plan Category |
From the drop-down list box select the plan category to which the plan type must be mapped. The drop-down list box contains the following values namely "Savings", "Health", "Disability", "FSA" and "Life & AD/D". By default, the system will display with "Select”. |
Status |
By default the system will display the status with “Pending”. By default, the status will be “Pending”. You can change the status to “Active” or “Inactive” |
Effective From Date |
The date from which the benefits plan type will be in effect. By default the system will display the date specified for the benefit program. |
Effective To Date |
The date until which the benefits plan type will be in effect. By default the system will display the date specified for the benefit program. |
To specify Waiting Period for a benefit plan type
Enter the waiting period to become eligible for the benefit plan type. By default the system will display the values specified in the mapped benefit program.
Waiting Period |
Enter the waiting period in the field and from the drop-down list box select the required unit. The drop-down list box contains the following values namely days, months, “First day of the Month After”, “First day of Year After”. Select one value. |
Reference Period |
Reference period is the condition based on which the waiting period is considered. From the drop-down list box select the unit of the reference period. The drop-down list box will display the following values namely, hire date, retire date, confirmation date, as on date etc. Enter the value of the reference period in the field. You must enter the date only if he selects the “As on Date” option. |
To specify eligibility for the plan type
Eligibility indicates that the criteria that the person has to satisfy for joining in the benefit plan type. By default, the benefit plan type inherits the eligibility criteria specified in the benefits program. You can also specify different eligibility criteria for the plan type. As you specify new eligibility for the plan the plan type, the inherited attributes are overridden.

Eligibility Profile Code |
Enter the eligibility profile code to the benefit plan type. As you specify the eligibility profile code, you indicate that a person can participate in the benefit plan type only if he satisfies the eligible criteria defined in the eligibility profile. Help Available |
Primary Participant Eligibility Rule |
The rule name based on which the eligibility of the person is defined. You can define the rule by selecting the “Define Rule” hyperlink beside the field. |
Dependent Eligibility Profile Code |
The eligibility profile code of the specified dependent. The eligibility profile for various types of dependents is already defined in the “Create Dependent Eligibility Profile” Activity. You can select the eligibility profile code of the required dependents from the “Help” provided. |
Dependent Eligibility Rule |
The rule name based on which the eligibility of the dependents can be defined. You can define the rule by selecting the “Define Rule” hyperlink besides the field. |
Note: If multiple eligibility profiles for a program are to be mapped, you are to leave the corresponding fields blank. I.e., to map multiple eligibility profile for the primary participant, you have to keep the “Eligibility Profile Code” and the “Primary Participant Eligibility Rule” must be kept blank. Similarly to map multiple eligibility profiles for a dependent, you have to leave the “Dependent Eligibility Profile Code” and the “Dependent Eligibility Rule” fields blank.
To specify multiple eligibility profiles
Select the “Map multiple Eligibilities” hyperlink from the bottom of the page.
The “Map Multiple Eligibilities” page appears.
Specify the eligibility profile(s) that must be mapped to the benefit plan type and save the details entered.
