In this page you can modify the details of the various zones present in a “Normal” warehouse in “Active” status. Tell me more
Select the “Edit Zone Information” link at the bottom of the “ Edit Warehouse Information” page.
The “Zone Information” page appears.
The system displays the following field:
Date Format |
The format in which the date fields are displayed in this page. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user ID. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date format from the Enterprise Modeling business component by default. |
The system displays the following fields in the “Warehouse Identification Details” group box:
Warehouse # |
The warehouse to which the zone belongs. |
Description |
The textual description of the warehouse. |
Warehouse Type |
The warehouse type which is “Normal”. |
Warehouse Category |
The category to which the warehouse belongs. |
The system displays the following field in the “Zone Details” multiline:
WH – Zone # |
The zone for which the details are to be modified. |
Enter the following fields in the “Zone Details” multiline to modify the zone details:
Zone Type |
Use the drop-down list box to modify the type of the zone. The system lists the options “Normal” and “Free”. |
You can modify the zone type from “Free” to “Normal” only when there is no stock in the zone. |

You can modify the zone type from “Normal” to “Free” only when the bins in the zone are in “Inactive” status. |
|
Note: If an “Active” zone of “Normal” type is modified as “Free” type, the bin, storage allocation and storage strategies defined for the zone are deleted. |

Zone Description |
The textual description of the zone (Alphanumeric, 150). Mandatory. |
Capacity Constraint |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the capacity accommodated in the zone, which could be one of the following: |

Volume – when capacity of the part is stored in volume. |
|
Weight - when capacity of the part is stored in weight. |
|
Quantity – when capacity of the part is stored in quantity. |
|
Not Required– when the capacity settings are not required for the zone. |
|
The system sets the default value as defined in the “Capacity Constraint” field of “Recording warehouse information” page |
Note: The capacity value cannot be less than the existing stock level when the Warehouse condition is set to “Free”. The stock level can be obtained from the “Stock Maintenance” business component. |

Volume |
The volume of the stock stored in the zone (Decimal). It is mandatory to enter this field, if the “Capacity Constraint” field is “Volume”. |
Volume UOM |
The unit of measurement in which the volume of the part is measured (Alphanumeric, 10). The UOM must be defined in the “Create UOM” activity of the “Unit of Measurement” business component and must be in “Active” status |
If the “Capacity Constraint” field is set to “Volume” and when this field is left blank, the system displays the “Volume UOM” of the respective warehouse. |

Note: Ensure that the total volume entered here does not exceed the “Capacity Constraint” of the warehouse, indicated in the header. For conversion of “Volume UOM” in zone to “Volume UOM“ in warehouse, ensure that the conversion factor is specified in the “Maintain UOM Conversion” activity of the “Part Administration” business component |

Weight |
The unit of measurement in which the part is weighed (Alphanumeric, 10). The UOM must be defined in the “Create UOM” activity of the “Unit of Measurement Administration” business component and must be in “Active” status. |
Weight UOM |
If the “Capacity Constraint” field is set to “Weight” and when this field is left blank, the system displays the “Weight UOM” of the respective warehouse. |

Note: Ensure that the total weight does not exceed the “Capacity Constraint” of the warehouse, indicated in the header.
For conversion of “Weight UOM” in zone to “Weight UOM“ in warehouse, ensure that the conversion factor is specified in the “Maintain UOM Conversion” activity of the “Part Administration” business component.
Proximity Indicator |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the position of the stock to be placed in the zone, which could be one of the following:
The system leaves the field blank by default. |
Placement Priority |
The priority in which the parts must be received into the zone (Integer). The number entered here should be greater than zero. If you do not want to enter any value, then the system inserts a number greater than zero. |
Picking Priority |
The priority in which the parts must be issued from the zone (Integer). The number entered here should be greater than zero. If you do not want to enter any value, then the system inserts a number greater than zero. |
Status |
Use the drop-down list box to modify the status of the zone. The system lists the options “Active” or “Inactive”. |

Set the status as “Inactive”, if you wish to disable the zone from future reference in other activities. |

Ensure that the following conditions are fulfilled when you inactivate a zone |

Note: Ensure that atleast one zone number is entered in the multiline.
File Name |
The name of the file used for document reference that is associated to the zone (Alphanumeric, 50). |
Remarks |
Any additional comment pertaining to the modification of zone details (Alphanumeric, 255). |
The system displays the following fields in the “Zone Details” multiline: |

Created By |
The name of the user who created the zone details. |
Created Date |
The date on which the zone details were created. |
Modified By |
The name of the user who last modified the zone details. |
Modified Date |
The date on which the zone details were last modified. |
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to mark the zone for which you wish to modify the bin details.
Click the “Edit Zone Information” pushbutton to update the modified zone details.
To proceed, carry out the following
Select the “Create Bin Information” link at the bottom of the “Zone Information” page to add bins for the zone for which the storage type is “Normal”.
Select the “Edit Bin Information” link at the bottom of the “Zone Information” page to modify the existing bin information of the zone, of type “Normal”.
Modifying zone information – An overview
You can modify the details of the various zones present in a “Normal” warehouse in “Active” status. A zone can be inactivated only when the bins associated to it do not contain any stock. When the zone is inactivated, all the bins associated to it get automatically inactivated. You can modify the zone type from “Free” to “Normal” only when there is no stock in the zone. A “Normal” zone can be converted into a “Free” zone only when the bins associated to the zone are inactivated. You can modify the other details such as the zone description, picking priority and the status of the zone.
This page also allows you to add new bins to the zone.

Modify the zone types under a warehouse
You can modify the zones types as “Normal” or “Free”, to enable part traceability. For zones of type “Normal”, bins can be defined within the zone for storing the parts.
Set the “Zone Type” drop-down list box to “Normal” to define the zone of “Normal” type.
Set the “Zone Type” drop-down list box to “Free” to define the zone of free type.
Modify “Picking Priority” for a zone
You can modify the priority in which the parts must be issued from the zone. At the time of issuing a particular part from the warehouse, the availability of the part will be checked in the various zones based on the priority specified here.
Enter the priority in which the parts must be issued from the zone in the “Picking Priority” field.
Modify the capacity of the stock
You can modify the capacity constraints of the stock to be stored in the zone.
Set the “Capacity Constraint” field to “ Volume”, if the capacity of part is to be stored in volume.
Set the “Capacity Constraint” field to “Weight”, if the capacity of part is to be stored in weight.
Set the “Capacity Constraint” field to “Quantity, if the capacity of part is to be stored in quantity.
Set the “Capacity Constraint” field to “Not Applicable”, if the warehouse is of type “Normal".
Modify the “Placement priority” for a zone
You can modify the priority in which the parts must be received in the zone. At the time of receiving a particular part from the warehouse, the parts will be placed in various zones based on the priority specified here.
Enter the priority in which the parts must be received in the zone in the “Placement Priority” field.
Set the ”Proximity Indicator” field to “Near”, if the stock is to be placed near the entrance of the zone.
Set the ”Proximity Indicator” field to “Medium”, if the stock is to be placed in the center of the zone.
Set the ”Proximity Indicator” field to “Far”, if the stock is to be placed away from the entrance of the zone.
You can specify the status of the zone, which could be “Active” or “Inactive”.
Set the “Status” field to “Active” to indicate that the zone can be referred in other activities.
Set the “Status” field to “Inactive” if you wish to disable the zone from future reference in other activities.
Ensure the following when you inactivate a zone:
The bins associated to the zone do not have any stock.
There are no transactions in the “Draft” or “Fresh” status against the zone.
