Updating kit composition details for a part
This page allows you to update the kit composition details of the selected part number. Tell me more.
Select the “Maintain Kit Composition” link in the “Select Part #” page. Alternatively, select the hyperlinked part number in the multiline of the same page.
The “Maintain Kit Composition” page appears.
The system displays the following:
Date Format |
The format in which the date fields are displayed in this page. This format is displayed from the “User Preferences” business component based on the login user ID. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date format from the “Enterprise Modeling” business component by default. |
The system displays the following in the “Kit Information” group box.
Part # |
The number identifying the part for which you want to update the kit composition details. The hyperlink to the view the parts information. |
Reference Status |
The reference status of the part. |
Mfr. Part # |
The number provided by the manufacturer of the part. |
Mfr. # |
The code identifying the manufacturer of the part. The name of the manufacture. |
Part Category |
The category of the part. |
Part Control Type |
The method by which the part is controlled in the warehouse. |
HAZMAT ID |
A unique ID representing the dangerous goods or serial number assigned to the article or substance. The hyperlink to the view the Hazmat information. |
Currency |
The currency of the login organizational unit. |
Total Cost |
The total cost of the kit part. |
Enter the following:
Labor Cost |
The cost incurred for labor to build a kit. The system ensures that the labor cost is greater than or equal to zero. |
Check one of the boxes “Track Constituents?”, “Issue incomplete kit?”, “Build” and “Break” to specify the kit operations in the “Kit Operations” group box.
You can check the “Track Constituents?” box only if the kit part # is (i) serial or serial-lot controlled part, (ii) stockable, (iii) Issue Basis is “Returnable” or “Non-Returnable” and (iv) shelf life controlled
You can check the “Issue incomplete kit?”, “Build” or “Break” boxes only if “Track Constituents?” box is checked.
If “Track Constituent?” box is checked, the system ensures that (i) at least one Part # or Mfr. Part # is entered and (ii) the entered Part # is a stockable part.
The system ensures that at least one of the constituent parts defined should be a shelf life part, if the Shelf Life period is defined for the part in “Part Administration” business component.
Enter the following field in the “Kit Operations” group box.

Any other comments regarding the operations of the kit. |
Click the hyperlinked part number to view the part details.
Enter the following fields in the “Kit Composition Details” multiline.
Note: At least one row must be entered in the multiline.
Part # |
The number identifying the part, which constitute the kit (Alphanumeric, 40). The part must have been defined in the “Create Parts Main Information” activity of this business component and must be in “Active” status. The system ensures that the entered Part # (i) is not of Part Type "Kit', (ii) is of "Returnable" Issue Basis, if the Issue Basis of Kit Part # is "Returnable" and (iii) the Reference Status is "Active". You must enter a value in this field, if either the Quantity or Remarks is entered. |

Mfr. Part # |
The number provided by the manufacturer of the part (Alphanumeric, 40). The manufacturer uses this number as reference. The system ensures that the value entered in this field is defined in the “Part Administration” business component. Help facility available. |
Mfr. # |
The code identifying the manufacturer of the part (Alphanumeric, 45). Help facility available. |
The system ensures that the following is true for “Mfr. Part #”;
The entered Mfr. Part # and Mfr. # is a valid combination.
If for the Mfr. Part # entered more than one part is available, the user must enter the Mfr. #.
If a value exists in the Part #, Mfr. Part # and Mfr. # fields, the system ensures that the combination of Mfr. Part # and Mfr. # corresponds to the Part #.
If a value exists in the Part # and Mfr. Part # fields and the Mfr. # is blank, the system ensures that the Mfr. Part # corresponds to the Part # entered.
If a value exists in the Part # and Mfr. # fields and the Mfr. Part # is blank, the user must enter the Mfr. Part #.
The system displays the following in the “Kit Composition Details” multiline:

The unit of measurement in which the part is stocked in the warehouses |
Part Type |
The type of the part. |
Enter the following fields in the “Kit Composition Details” multiline:
Quantity. |
The number of units, of the part, required for constituting the kit (Integer). The value in this field must be greater than zero. If Quantity is entered in fractions, the system ensures that the Stock UOM of the Constituent Part # allows fractions in the “UOM” business component. |
Enter the following field.
Standard Cost |
The standard cost of the part. |
Alternate Allowed? |
Use the drop-down list box to specify whether alternate part can be allowed or not. The system displays the options “Yes” and “No”. The system displays”Yes” by default. |
Minimum Quantity |
The minimum quantity of constituent parts that should be held while issuing the kit (Decimal). If Minimum Qty is entered in fractions, the system ensures that the Stock UOM of the Constituent Part # allows fractions in the “UOM” business component. The system ensures that the entered Minimum Quantity is less than or equal to the Quantity. |
Remarks |
Any other comments regarding the composition of the kit (Alphanumeric, 255). |
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to mark the part for deletion.
Click the Delete icon in the tool bar above the multiline, to delete the parts selected in the multiline.
Click the “Maintain Kit Composition” pushbutton to update the kit composition details.
The system updates the login user id and the server date, in the “Created By” and “Created Date” or in the “Last Modified by” and “Last Modified Date” fields, as the case may be.
The system displays the following in the “Record Statistics” group box:

Updating kit composition details for a part – An overview
A Kit is usually made up of parts, with valid part numbers, existing in the inventory. The quantity of the individual parts, which constitute the kit, can also be defined. A kit comprises a collection of unique part numbers. You can enter the kit composition details for a newly created part.
The system stores the login user ID and the server date along with the modification details.
