Create Reason Code – A summary of the activity

Logistics Common Master - An overview

Reason codes are user-defined values, which are used to classify the various reasons for rejecting or quarantining parts that are supplied by a supplier. In this activity, you can create reason codes for rejecting or quarantining parts during goods receipt process. You can define the reason code values for a specific reason code type, by providing a unique identifier and a description for it. The reason code should be unique for the reason type. You can classify the reason code as “Rejection” or “Quarantine”. The rejection code defines the reason for rejecting the parts, and the quarantine code defines the reason for quarantining the parts during the goods receipts process. The system creates a reason code for shelf life, by default. This reason code is used to indicate that the part is rejected due to low shelf life.

The classification of reasons for rejecting or quarantining parts, based on reason codes helps you to evaluate the suppliers, effectively. The system assigns the "Active" status as soon as the reason code is created and stores the name of the login user and the current server date as the created date.
