Creating customer group
This activity allows you to group customers under a single entity called “Customer Group”.
Select the “Create Customer Group” link under the “Customer” business component.
The “Create Customer Group” page appears.
Enter the following fields in the “Customer Group Details” group box:

Use the drop-down list box to specify whether the customer group is a controlled group or a user-defined group. The system lists the following options:

Use the drop-down list box to select the group type to which the customer belongs. If you have selected “Yes” in the “Controlled Group” field,

Enter the following fields:
Customer Group # |
A unique identifier for the customer group (Alphanumeric, 6) Mandatory. This field can be a combination of characters and digits, and cannot be left blank. Ensure that the number is unique to the organizational unit. |

The textual description of the customer group (Alphanumeric, 40). Mandatory. |
Enter the following fields in the “Customer Details” multiline to associate the customer with the customer group:
Customer # |
The code identifying the customer who must be associated with the customer group (Alphanumeric, 18). Mandatory. This code must be already defined in the “Create Customer” activity in the current organizational unit. Ensure that the operational status of the customer is “Active” in the current organizational unit. |
Note: If the customer group is a controlled group, then the customer code should be unique to the “Customer Group #” and “Group Type Code” combination.
If the “Group Type Code” is “Account”, ensure that the nature of the customer is not “Internal” in the “Create Customer” Activity of “Customer” business component.
The system fills in the following field when you click the “Create Customer Group” pushbutton:

Enter the following field below the multiline:
Remarks |
Any remark or comment regarding the customer group creation (Alphanumeric, 255). |
Note: Ensure that at least one record is entered in the multiline.
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to mark the customer for deletion.
Click Delete icon in the tool bar above the multiline to delete the selected customer.
Click the “Create Customer Group” pushbutton to create the customer group.
Note: The customer group is created and the status of the customer group is set as “Active”. The system sets the current server date in the “Created Date” field and the login user ID in the “Created By” field, by default.

Associate customers with customer group
You can create a customer group by providing a unique code and description.
Enter a unique code for the customer group.
Provide a description for the customer group.
You can categorize a customer group as a controlled group or a user-defined group.
Select “Yes” in the “Controlled Group” drop-down list box to classify the customer group as controlled group.
Select “No” in the “Controlled Group” drop-down list box to classify the customer group as a user-defined group.
Associate customers with customer group
You can affiliate customers to a customer group by specifying the customer code in the multiline.
Enter the customer code in the “Customer Details” multiline.
Click the “Create Customer Group” pushbutton to create the customer group.
