Customer - An Overview

Getting familiar with the activities

Aviation operation is an extremely capital-intensive industry. Maintenance of aviation assets demands large execution facilities with specialized equipment and skilled labor. Certain maintenance service providers, also referred to as MROs, specialize in providing these services to the airline operators. It is as a result of this outsourcing that the operator lowers its capital investments in maintenance facilities and concentrates in enhancing its core-competency i.e., providing better service at the right price.

A customer is defined as an entity that receives any kind of service from the maintenance service provider or from an operator who has excess capacity and services other customers. The “Customer” business component addresses the need of maintaining the relationship information regarding all the customers of an MRO organization. Multiple sales units of the same MRO organization can service customers with diverse business interests and/or having multi-geographic presence.

You can create a customer centrally and associate with sales point that eases order processing. You can define general information required while creating customer, like commercial information, payment receipt details, induct customer ‘s aircraft or component for providing maintenance services, associate and induct customer task into MRO’s system and keep track of the parts provided by the customer. All these information for the customer can be defined at the central or above organizational unit (OU) level. At the sales point or OU level, you can assign saleable parts to the customer, define certificate details required for those parts, assign service and part price list to the customer, enter bill to or ship to customer details, and specify contact person information.

You can hold or release a customer at any point during the sales transaction process. You can hold the customer if he has stopped transacting with the company for a considerable period of time and release a held customer whenever needed.

Grouping of customers based on a common need is also facilitated in this business component. “Customer Group” is the entity that allows you to group the customers for billing, dunning, analysis or review purposes.
