Setting deferral limits for deferring work units
This page helps you specify the deferral limits for a work unit. Tell me more.
Select the “Edit Deferral Limit” link in the “Edit Deferment Request” page.
The “Edit Deferment Schedules Information” page appears.
Note: Ensure that the deferral type for the request is not “Indefinite Deferral”. The status of the deferment request should not be “Processed”.
The system displays the following field:
Date Format |
The format in which the date fields are displayed This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user ID. If the format is not defined, the system will display the date format from the “Enterprise Modeling” business component by default. |
The system displays the following in the “Deferment Request Details” multiline:
Deferment Request # |
The number identifying the deferment request selected in the previous page |
Maintenance Type |
The type of the maintenance work, such as overhaul, repair and inspection, to be performed on the component |
Work Unit # |
The number identifying the work unit for which deferment is requested. The transient status of the work unit should not be “Deferred”. |
Work Unit Type |
The type of the work unit, which could be “Task”, “Standard Procedure” or “Work Package”. |
Requestor |
The code of the requestor who raised the deferment request for the work unit |
Job Type |
The type of the maintenance activity which could be "Aircraft", "Component Removal" or "On Wing". |
Component # |
The code identifying the component |
Position Code |
The code of the position to which the component is fitted |
Part # |
The part number of the component that is associated with the work unit |
Serial # |
The serial number of the component that is associated with the work unit |
Scheduled Date |
The date on which the work unit is scheduled to be performed |
Latest Scheduled Date |
The latest date on which the work unit is scheduled |
Enter the following in the “Deferral Limit – Time- Based” group box:. (Data entry in these fields is mandatory, if you have set the deferral type as “Time- Based” or “Time- and Usage- Based”.)
Deferred By (Days) |
The number of days by which the work unit is deferred (Integer) Ensure that this is a positive value. Leave this field blank, if the deferral type is “”Usage- Based”. |
Alert Value (Days) |
The number of days by which the alert date of the work unit is deferred (Integer) Ensure that this is a positive value. Leave this field blank, if the deferral type is “”Usage- Based”. |
Enter the following in the “Deferral Limit – Parameter- Based” multiline: (Data entry in these fields is mandatory, if you have set the deferral type as “Usage- Based” or “Time- and Usage- Based”.
Parameter |
The parameter such as flying hours and engine hours (Alphanumeric, 40) Ensure that this is a valid parameter of the type “Consumption” and the status “Active”, as defined in the “Create Parameters” activity of the “Aircraft” business component. The parameter should be unique to the multiline. |

Enter the following:
Alert Value |
The alert value of the parameter (Decimal) Mandatory |

Deferred By |
The value by which the alert value for the parameter is deferred (Decimal) Mandatory Ensure that this is a positive value. |
The system displays the following field:

Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to select the parameters for the modifications.
Click the “Edit Schedule” pushbutton at the bottom of the page to update the modifications.
The system updates the modifications and calculates the date till which the work unit is deferred.
The system calculates the deferral date based on the following formulas:
For time- based schedules:
Deferred Till Date = Date of deferment request + Deferred By (Days)
For usage- based schedules:
Deferred Till Date = Date of deferment request + (Alert value + Deferred Value) / Utilization Factor per day
The system displays the following field in “Deferral Value – Time- Based”:

Setting deferral limits for deferring work units – An overview
This page helps you specify the deferral limits for a work unit. You can specify deferral limits based on time, usage or both. In time-based deferral, you need to enter the number of days by which you want to defer the work unit, and the alert date. In usage-based deferral, you need to enter the parameter values by which you need to defer the work unit. On updating the modifications, the system calculates the date till which the work unit is deferred, based on the modified deferral limits.
