Modifying deferment request details of a work unit
This page allows you to modify the deferment details of a work unit. Tell me more
Select the “Edit Deferment Request Details” link in the “Select Deferment Request” or “Create Deferment Request” page.
The “Edit Deferment Request Details” page appears.
The system displays the following in the “Deferment Request Details” group box:
Deferment Request # |
The number identifying the deferment request for which the details are to be modified. |
Aircraft Reg # |
The registration number of the aircraft. |
Part # |
The part number of the component on which the maintenance activity is performed. |
Serial # |
The serial number of the component on which the maintenance activity is performed. |
Visit Package # |
The number identifying the visit package for which the deferment request must be modified. |
Revision # |
The latest revision number of the visit package. The system leaves the field blank if the visit package has not been revised. |
Work Center # |
The work center where the visit package is to be executed. |
Job Type |
The type of the maintenance activity such as "Aircraft", "Component Removal", "On Wing" etc. |
The system displays the following in the “Work Unit Details” multiline:
Line # |
The unique number generated by the system, to identify the row in the multiline. |
Work Unit # |
The work unit for which deferment is requested. |
Work Unit Type |
The type of the work unit, which could be “Task”, “Std. Procedure” or “Work Package”. |
Maintenance Type |
The type of the maintenance work, such as overhaul, repair and inspection, to be performed on an aircraft. |
Schedule Date |
The deferral date of the task |
Modify the following fields, if required:
Reason Category |
Use the drop-down list box to modify the reason category for deferment of the work unit. The system lists all valid reason categories in the “Active” status as defined in the “Create Deferral Reason Category” activity of the “Central Planning” business component. |
Limit Type |
Use the drop-down list box to modify the type of deferment of the work unit. The system provides the options, “Time Based”, “Usage Based”, “Time & Usage Based” and “Indefinite Deferral”. The system displays “Time Based” by default. |
Note: The option “Indefinite Deferral” is displayed, only if the system parameter “Indefinite Deferral” is set to “Allowed” in the “Set Options” activity of the current business component.
Requestor Comments |
Any additional remarks pertaining to deferment by the user who creates the deferment request (Alphanumeric, 255). |
Regulatory Authority |
Use the drop-down list box to modify the regulatory authority that defines the scheduled dates, compliance dates and compliance values for maintenance activities. The system lists all the valid regulatory authorities that are defined in the “Create Regulatory Authority Codes” activity of the “Common Master” business component. |
Approval # |
The number that identifies the user who approves the deferment of the work unit (Alphanumeric, 15). |
Approval Date |
The date on which the deferment request is approved (Date Format). |
Note: The approval date is displayed, either in GMT or local time, based on the options set in the “Time Zone” systems parameter.
The system displays the following field:

Employee # |
The employee code of the login user. |
Requestor Name |
The name of the login user. |
Enter the following fields:

Note: The system will not retrieve work units of Job Type ‘Component Removal’
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to select the work units to cancel or confirm the deferment request.
Modifying the deferment request
Click the “Edit Deferment Request” pushbutton to update the modifications.
The system carries out the following:
Changes the status of the deferment request to “Fresh”. The system stores the name of the login user and the current server date as the last modified date.
Note: If the system parameters “Deferment Request Authorization For Aircraft Work units” is set as “Not Required”, the system updates the transient status of the parent work unit as well as its constituent work unit to “Deferred” and the job status as “Cancelled”. The system also updates the maintenance program of the parent work unit with the execution status as “Deferred” and also the corresponding deferment request details.
The system does not allow creation of deferment request for work units of Job Type ‘Component Removal’.
Does not allow the creation of deferment request for a work units for which the ‘Deferment Policy’ is set as ‘Not Allowed’ in the Aircraft Maintenance Program.
If the work unit that is being deferred is a constituent of a parent work unit and the parent's work units deferment policy is set as 'Constituent Work Unit', the system allows creation of deferment request for the constituent work unit as well as the complete work unit.
After the deferment request is created, the system will update the “Pending Tray and Opportunity Maintenance” with deferred work units ( Constituent/ Unplanned).
After the creation of deferment request for unplanned work units, the Job Status of the unplanned deferred work unit changes to ‘Pending’ and the transient status to ‘Pending Deferral’.
Confirming request for deferment
Click the “Confirm Deferment Request” pushbutton to confirm the requisition for deferment of the selected work units.
The system carries out the following:
Changes the status of the deferment request to “Confirmed” and the transient status of the work unit to “Pending Deferral”. The system stores the name of the login user and the current server date as the confirmed date.
If the “Deferment Request Authorization For Aircraft Work units” and “Deferment Request Authorization For Component Work Units” fields are set to “Not Required” in the “Set Options” activity of the “Central Planning” business component, the system performs the following:
a) Changes the transient status of the work units to “Deferred” and the deferment request status to “Approved”.
b) Updates the aircraft/component work units to the “Allocate Work Units” and “Perform Opportunity Maintenance” activities of the “Central Planning” business component.
c) For the aircraft/component work units, the system updates the following in the corresponding aircraft .
Updates the “Parameter” and "Deferred Till Date" fields in the “Central Planning” and ”Component Maintenance Planning” pending trays.
Cancel the deferment request
Click the “Cancel Deferment Request” pushbutton to cancel the requisition for deferment of the selected work units.
The system changes the status of the deferment request to “Cancelled”. The system stores the name of the login user and the current server date as the last modified date.
To edit deferral limits
Click the “Edit Deferral Limits” link at the bottom of the page to modify the deferral limits for the work units.

You can change the deferral type of the deferment request. Based on the option specified here, you can define the deferral limits for the work unit.
Set the “Deferral Type” field in the “Work Unit Details” group box to “Time Based”, if you wish to defer the work unit based on days.
Set the “Deferral Type” field in the “Work Unit Details” group box to “Usage Based”, if you wish to defer the work unit based on parameter values.
Set the “Deferral Type” field in the “Work Unit Details” group box to “Time Based & Usage Based”, if you wish to defer the work unit based on both time as well as parameter values.
Modify the reason category for the deferment request
You can change the reason category of the deferment request using the reason categories defined in the “Create Deferral Reason Category “ activity of the “Central Planning” business component.
Set the appropriate option in the “Reason Category” field in the “Work Unit Details” group box to categorize the deferment request.

Modifying deferment request details of a work unit – An overview
This page allows you to modify the deferment details of a work unit. You can modify the approval details such as the regulatory authority for approving the deferment, the approval number and date. You can also modify the deferral type, reason category for deferment and the requestor comments for deferring the work unit.
Using this page, you can also cancel or confirm the deferment request. You can confirm, modify or cancel deferment requests, which are in “Fresh” status.
