Modifying deferral limits for deferring a work unit
This page enables you to specify the deferral limits for a work unit. Tell me more
Select the “Edit Deferral Limits” link in the “Create Deferment Request” or “Edit Deferment Request Details” page.
The “Edit Deferral Limits” page appears.
The system displays the following field:
Date Format |
The format in which the date fields are displayed in this page. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user ID. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date format from the “Enterprise Modeling” business component by default. |
The system displays the following in the “Deferment Request Details” group box:
Deferment Request # |
The deferment request selected in the previous page. |
Work Center # |
The work center where the visit package is to be executed. |
Visit Package # |
The visit package number for which the consolidated resource requirement must be viewed. |
Revision # |
The latest revision number of the visit package. The system leaves the field blank if the visit package has not been revised. |
Enter the following field:
Line # |
Use the drop-down list box to select the line number in the deferment request for which deferral limits must be set. The system lists all the lines that are identified for the deferment request number. |
Click the “Get Details” pushbutton to retrieve the deferral details that are already entered for the work unit.
The system displays the following:

The number identifying the work unit. |

The textual description of the work unit. Zoom facility available. |
Work Order # |
The number identifying the work order. |
Work Order Description |
The textual description of the work order. Zoom facility available. |
The system displays the following in the “Compliance Details” group box:
Compliance Date |
The date on which the maintenance activity has to be complied with. |
Limit Type |
The type of deferment of the work unit, which could be “Time Based”, “Usage Based” or “Time & Usage Based”. |
Enter the following in the “Time Based Deferrals” group box. Entry in these fields is mandatory, if you have set the deferral type as “Time Based” or “Time and Usage Based”.
Deferred By (Days) |
The number of days by which the work unit is deferred (Integer). Ensure this is a positive value. Leave this field blank, if the deferral type is “”Usage Based”. |
Alert Value (Days) |
The number of days by which the alert date of the work unit is deferred (Integer). Ensure this is a positive value. Leave this field blank, if the deferral type is “”Usage Based”. |
Enter the following in the “Usage Based Deferrals” multiline. Entry in these fields is mandatory, if you have set the deferral type as “Usage Based” or “Time and Usage Based”.
Parameter |
The parameter such as flying hours, engine hours etc. (Alphanumeric, 40). Ensure this is a valid parameter of type “Consumption” and status “Active”, as defined in the “Create Parameters” activity of the “Aircraft” business component. The parameter should be unique in the multiline. Help facility available. |
The system displays the following:
UOM |
The unit of measurement of the parameter value. |
Present Value |
The present value of the parameter. |
Enter the following:
Deferred By |
The value by which the alert value for parameter is deferred (Decimal). Ensure this is a positive value. |
Alert Value |
The alert value of the parameter (Decimal). Ensure this is a positive value. |
The system displays the following field:

The textual description of the parameter. |
Schedule Value |
The parameter value at which the work unit must be executed. |
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to select the parameters for modifications.
Click the “Edit Deferral Limits” pushbutton at the bottom of the page to update the details.
The system updates the modified details and calculates the date till which the work unit is deferred.
The system calculates the deferral date based on the following formulas:
For time based schedules:
Deferred Till Date = Date of deferment request + Deferred By (Days).
For usage based schedules:
Deferred Till Date = Date of deferment request + (value as on Deferment Request Date+ Deferred Value) / Utilization Factor per day.
Modifying deferral limits for deferring a work unit – An overview
This page enables you to specify the deferral limits for a work unit. You can specify deferral limits based on time, usage or both. In time-based deferral, you need to enter the number of days by which you wish to defer the work unit and the alert date. In usage-based deferral, you need to enter the parameter values by which you need to defer the work unit. On updating the modified details, the system calculates the date till which the work unit is deferred, based on the modified deferral limits.
