Post Training Evaluation – An Overview
An organization might wish to monitor the performance of employees after they have attended training. Post Training Evaluation supports this process. Either the supervisor or the training administrator can evaluate the trainee on the job and rate him/her. This will give a clear picture about the effectiveness of the training and the impact it has had on the performance of the employee. It is a good and common practice to evaluate them on the job at regular intervals. This is the best way of evaluating the effectiveness of the training and the impact it has on the employee’s performance. At times, Competency/Qualification update will happen only after Post Training Evaluation. This evaluation could be done either by the supervisor (who is best aware of the employee’s performance) or by the person who administered the training.

Using a post-training evaluation component, you can evaluate the effectiveness of the training. The evaluation can be conducted after specific time periods. Post training evaluation is conducted at periodical levels. In other words, post training evaluation is spread over a time period. For example, post training evaluation can be spread over a period of time like 15 days, one month etc. It means that the training evaluation will be conducted after 15 days after the completion of the training program. The training evaluation can be conducted by means of a test, which can be a questionnaire type, quiz or on the job quiz. You can also define the weights that could be given for these tests and also define the maximum rating and the minimum desired level. The ratings that are obtained by the trainees are recorded for each test and the overall rating is done. Apart from rating the employee’s evaluation tests, the supervisor or the training administrator can also record certain record details as “remarks” against each evaluation tests.
Update Employee Competency/Qualification
Using a post training evaluation component, the supervisor or training administrator can update the qualification and competency of the employees who have attended the training in their personal information. Competency and the qualification acquired by undergoing training get upgraded in the employee’s personal information. Depending upon the performance of the trainees who have attended the training their competency level/ qualification is upgraded. You will be able to view the details of the competency/qualification that was possessed by the employee before he underwent the training program. The training administrator or the superior can also reject the updating of competency/qualification, if the performance of the employee is found to be unsatisfactory.
