HR Process Parameters – An overview
Through this component, you can set Process Parameter values.
Process Parameters: The business process flow is driven by a set of basic parameters. Process Parameters help in configuring the business process as per the requirements of the organization. The HR Process Parameters component facilitates the following:
ˇ Setting Process Parameters.
ˇ Set Position Control ID series.
ˇ Viewing the process parameter values.
Setting Process Parameters: To set process parameters, you are to use the ‘Set Process Parameters’ activity. You can set process parameters for a specific component. To set parameters for a specific component, you are to first select the component. When you select the component, for example, Competency, Employee Personal Information etc., the system lists the predefined parameters from the quick codes. You can choose the required parameter. For example, for defining Competencies, you can choose a single tier or a three tier definition structure based on the organization’s needs and requirements. If you choose a three stage definition structure, the system facilitates defining competencies at the element, class and competency levels. In the same way, the maximum value for a competency can be set as 10, 50 or 100 etc., as per organizational need or practice.
Setting Position Control ID Series: To set position control series, you are to use the ‘Set Position Control ID Series’ activity. Position Control ID refers to the unique ID assigned to each post in the organization. Associating a position control ID series to each post helps in identifying the organizational, employment related and job profile details pertaining to the post.
If the position control feature is enabled, you can use this activity to set the position control ID series parameters.
The position control ID series parameters you can set are:
ˇ The position control ID generation method, which can be set as either “Manual” or “Automatic”. If you set the generation method to automatic, the system generates a new position control ID for each post. If you set the method to manual, the user has to specify a separate position control ID for each post.
ˇ The total character length of the position control ID series. The length of the position control ID series comprises the length of the alphabetic prefix, if any, and the numeric part of the ID series.
ˇ Whether the position control ID series should have an alphabetic prefix.
ˇ The character length of the alphabetic prefix.
ˇ The start value of each position control ID series. The system increments the start value by 1 for each new position control ID generated in the series. Also, you can choose to keep the position control ID series details in active or inactive status. If you activate the details, the position control ID series can be used in relevant activities/component. If you inactivate the details, the series will not be available for use.
Viewing Process Parameters: To view process parameter details, you are to use the ‘View Process Parameters’ activity.
To view process parameters, you are to specify the following details:
ˇ The Employee Induction Parameter Unit
ˇ The component for which you want to view the process parameters.
ˇ The parameter for which you want to view the assigned values.
Based on the details furnished, the system displays the value assigned.
In addition, you can also view the comments entered with regard to the specified details.
