Creating an attendance type

Select “Create Attendance Type” from left pane.
The “Create Attendance Type” page appears.
The page displays the following field.
Date Format |

Enter / Select the following fields.
Payroll General Info. Unit |
Select the organization unit in which you must create an attendance type. The drop-down list box displays all the organization units where you have permission to create attendance types. Tell me more |
Attendance Code |
An unique code to identify the attendance type record. |
Attendance Description |
A unique description of the attendance type record. |
Period Unit Description |
Select the period unit for the attendance type record, from the drop-down list box. |
The drop-down list box will display all the period units you had created in the “Create Period Units” activity. | |
Attendance Entry Mode |
Select the mode in which attendance must be entered. You can choose one of the following from the drop-down list box: “Direct Entry”, “Formula” or “ARS”. |
Effective From |
Specify the date from which the attendance type record will come into effect. |
The date format must be in the format selected in the “Set Parameter” Component. If the date format is not set, the system applies the date format applicable to the organization unit to the attendance type. | |
Day wise Attendance |
From the drop-down list box select “Yes” to indicate that the day wise attendance must be maintained. Otherwise select NO. |
Rule |
If the Attendance Entry Mode is “Formula Based“ or “ARS“, enter the name of the rule to be applied. If you select the “Direct Entry” mode, leave the field blank. |

Applicable to Org. Units |
Select one of the three options available in the drop-down list box: “All Org. Units”, “Login Org. Units” or “Selective Org. Units”. If you select |

Select the “Save” pushbutton to save the new attendance type.

Use this page to define a new attendance type and make it available to different organizational units.
You can define different types of attendance such as Regular and Overtime. Each attendance type must be uniquely defined with a code and description. You are to indicate the time from which the attendance type will be effective, and specify the following about the attendance type:
Specify the unit of time, termed “period unit”, in which to measure attendance. It could be Hour, Day, and Week etc.
Choose the mode
of entering attendance. The system displays the different modes, which
are “Direct Entry“, “Formula Based“ or “ARS“ (Attendance Recording System).
If the attendance type is “Formula Based”, the name of the rule to
be applied to the formula must also be specified. This rule name must
be predefined in “X” page.
Map the attendance type to organization units, which means that the attendance type will henceforth be available to these organizational units.
Note that the actual mapping of the attendance type record to the organizational units is carried out in a separate page called “Map Org. Units”.
