Create Payroll - A summary of the activity
Payroll: A payroll, in Ramco Enterprise Series 4.0, is a set of employees, for whom salary is to be processed on a given date and at a given frequency.
The "Create Payroll" activity enables you to add a new payroll and associate it to the payroll calendar. You can earmark the payroll for a specific country and organization unit group. There can be multiple payrolls in the Organization. The need for multiple payrolls arises due to two main reasons.
The first is that an organization may choose to simultaneously run separate payrolls for different categories of employees such as Managers, Executives, Trainees and Workers.
The second reason is that payrolls are run at different points of time. For instance, one payroll is run weekly and the second payroll monthly, which means that these payrolls must be differentiated uniquely.
Before defining a new payroll, you are to specify the organization unit to which the payroll will be applicable. Subsequently, you are to attach the payroll to a payroll calendar that is available under the organization unit.
Duration for which the Payroll is Processed: You can decide the duration for which the payroll is processed, by attaching it to a payroll calendar to which process periods are linked. Multiple process periods are linked to the payroll calendar. Together, the payroll calendar and process period determine the duration of the payroll, as follows.
The payroll calendar specifies a duration, with a minimum and maximum range, such as a minimum of 28 Days and a maximum of 31 Days. The duration allowed for all process periods linked to this payroll calendar will between 28 and 31 days.
The process period specifies the date range for which the payroll processing is applicable. Example January 1, 2002 to January 31, 2002.
What You are to Enter, in this Activity: You are to identify each payroll uniquely, specify the organization unit group to which the payroll must be applicable, and assign it characteristics by
Classifying the payroll under a specific payroll type such as Regular Payroll or Pension Payroll.
Attaching the payroll to a specific payroll calendar. When attached to the payroll calendar, the payroll automatically inherits the periods/date ranges for which the payroll will be processed and the duration of each period.
Specifying whether the payroll must be made available to all the organizational units within the organization, to only those to which the login user is attached, or to selective organizational units. If you specify the last, you are to enter the next page “Map Payroll- Org. Units,” to choose the organizational units.
The Pension Payroll feature allows organizations to pay their employees after retirement. This feature can be configured to cater to the employees who retire through normal retirement, voluntary retirement and under any special category of the company norms.
You can also choose the date on which the paycheck must be generated. All taxes of the employee will be calculated from this date.
