Select “Edit Department” from the left pane.
The “Select Department to Edit” page appears.
The system displays the following detail at the top right of the page
Date Format |
The date format that is applicable to the login user. |
A blank multiline appears, containing the following fields: “Department Code”, “Department Short Description”, “Inactive” and a “Select” check box.
Enter the following fields
Organization Structure Unit |
The organization unit in which the organization structure component is deployed. |
Language |
The system displays the language in which the login user logged in. In other words, this refers to the language you selected in the login screen, to access this activity. |

From the drop-down list box, select the language in which you require to edit the record |
Select the department record, either through the “Direct Entry” group box or through the “Search Criteria” group box.
Use this method if you know the complete code of the required department.
Enter the complete code of the department in the “Department Code” field.
Select the “Edit Department” hyperlink beside.
The “Edit Department Details” page appears. All details of the selected record are displayed.
To edit department, refer to the topic “Editing a Department”.
Use this method if you know just a few characters of the department code. In the search criteria group box, specify the search criteria based on which the system will fetch the records.
To specify the search criteria, you must enter one or more characters that the department code contains. Search based on wild card characters is also supported. To narrow your search to the closest matching records, you can also enter search criteria for the short description of the department.
Enter the following search criteria values, in some or all of the following fields.
Department Code |
To view all department codes containing specific characters, type in a starting range of these characters along with the wild card character *. Example: If you type in DPT*, the system will display all the department records having the prefix DPT. |
Department Short Description |
To view all department short descriptions containing specific characters, type in a range of these characters along with the wild card character "*". Examples: *department, depart*, new*department. |
Select the “Search” pushbutton.
Note:
If only one search criteria value is entered, the system will fetch the
records that satisfy this value.
If more than one search criteria value is entered, the system
will fetch the records satisfying all the specified values.
If you do not enter any value in the search criteria group
box and select the “Search” pushbutton, the system will fetch all the
records that are available for the selected organization structure unit.
The system displays the following details in the multiline, for the department records that satisfy the search criteria specified.
Department Code |
The unique code of the department. |
Department Short Description |
The short description of the department. |
Inactive |
The active or inactive status of the department. “Active” indicates that the department is available for use in other activities and “Inactive” indicates otherwise. |
Select the hyperlink on the short description of the required department record in the multiline.
The system displays the “Edit Department Details” page, which you can use to edit the details.
Use this page to select a department, which you want to edit.
