Through this activity, you can view the details of a grade.
Grade: The employees in an organization are classified into different grade sets on the basis of various quantitative parameters. For example, all managers can be grouped into one grade set while there can be separate grade sets for administrative personnel, clerical staff etc. A grade is a qualitative unit, by which employees belonging to the same grade set can be rationally differentiated.
Each grade is made distinct from the other grades in a grade set by attributing a different pay scale, rate of increment and other privileges to it, on the basis of certain eligibility criteria. Subsequently when employee of a grade set are attached to different grades, the differences in their compensation structures are rationalized.
For example, if the grade set ‘Managers’ has grades M1 to M4, all managers attached to M1 enjoy the same pay scale, rate of increment and other benefits and privileges even if there exist differences in the compensation terms and conditions when compared to managers attached M2 or M3.
In addition, grade is the indicator of the place of the employee in the hierarchical structure of the organization.
