Recording salary structure for grade
Select the “Record Grade Based Salary Structure” option from the left pane.
The “Record Grade Based Salary Structure" page appears.
The system displays the following detail.
Date Format |
The date format applicable to the login user. |
Enter the following.
Organization Structure Unit |
From the drop-down list box, select the organization structure unit. |
Employment Unit |
From the drop-down list box, select the employment unit for which you require to record the grade based salary structure. |
Specify the Grade Set – Grade – Work location combination to set up salary structure.
Grade Set |
From the drop-down list box, select the grade set. |
Grade |
From the drop-down list box, select the grade. |
Work Location |
From the drop-down list box, select the work location. |
The system displays the currency in which the salary is paid to employees in “Currency” field.
Enter the following in the multiline.
Pay Element Code |
The code identifying the pay element. |

Value |
The value that is payable to the employees of the grade against the specific pay element. |
Amount/Percentage |
From the drop-down list box, select any one of the following options:

Derived Type |
From the drop-down list box, select either one of the following derived types if the pay element is defined as a percentage :

Derived Type Code |
The code of the pay element or accumulator depending on the selection of the Derived Type. |
Periodicity |
From the drop-down list box, select the periodicity as hourly/monthly/weekly. This will be the frequency or the periodicity at which the amount will be paid against the pay element. |
Variable at Employee Level |
From the drop-down list box, select

Proration Applicable |
From the drop-down list box, select "Yes" or "No" option to indicate whether proration for the pay element is applicable or not. |
LOP |
From the drop-down list box, select either "Yes" or "No" option to indicate whether Loss of Pay (LOP) is applicable for the pay element or not. |
Grace Period |
The minimum number of grace period units for which LOP can be availed against the pay element. |
Grace Period Units |
The units for the grace period specified. Example, "Day", "Hour". |
Flexible |
From the drop-down list box, select either "Yes" or "No" option to indicate whether the pay element amount is fixed or variable at employee level. |
Option |
From the drop-down list box, select either "Yes" or "No" option to indicate whether the employee in the grade can opt for the selected pay element or not. |
Rule |
The rule applicable for computing the pay element amount, if you selected the option "Rule" from the "Amount/Percentage" drop-down list box. |
Sequence No. |
The sequence number of the pay element. |
Remarks |
The remarks pertaining to the pay element. |
The system displays the description for the selected pay element in the “Pay Element Description” field.
Enter the following
Minimum Annual CTC |
The minimum CTC eligible for the employee. |
Maximum Annual CTC |
The maximum CTC eligible for the employee |
Select the "Compute CTC" pushbutton.
The system computes and displays the computed amount against the pay element in the "Computed Value" field in the multiline.
The system computes the earnings for all the pay elements in a year and displays the Computed Annual CTC for the grade.
Enter the following modification details.
Modification Option |

New Effective From |
The date from which the record becomes valid for payroll processing. |
Comments |
Any remarks on the record. |
Select the “Save” pushbutton.
Select the following fields: Grade Set, Grade, Work Location .
The system displays the currency in which the salary is paid to the employees in the “Currency” field.
Select the ”Get” pushbutton.
The system displays all the available details of the most recent record for the selected Grade Set – Grade – Work Location combination.
The “Effective From” and “Effective To” fields display the start and end dates of the effective period of the selected record. However, for the most recent record, the “Effective To” field remains blank. The effective period of a record means the values in the record are picked up for payroll processing for the matching processing period. The “Effective To” date for the latest record is set only after a new record is created and hence the field is blank.
Select “Previous” and “Next” pushbuttons to select / search records.
You can modify all the details as required.
Specify the following in the “Modification Details” box.

New Effective From |
The date from which the updated record becomes operational. You must enter the date only if you have selected “Update” in the “Modification Option” field. The “Effective To” date for the previous record is set to the previous day. For example, if you have updated the record on 10-02-2006, the system sets the “Effective To” date of the previous record to 09-02-2006. |
Select the “Save” pushbutton.
Enter the comments pertaining to the grade based salary structure.
Select the “Delete” pushbutton.
