Through this activity, you can create and define a process for an organization. Departments refer to the functional units into which an organization is divided, for efficient execution of work and administrative convenience. For example, Human Resources process handles all aspects of work pertaining to the hiring of employees and staffing the other process with competent employees.
Creating a Process:
To create a process you are to specify,
A unique code to identify the process.
A short description of the process. Alternatively, you can specify a more elaborate description also.
The date from which the process should come to effect.
The employment units to which the process should be applicable. You can make the process applicable to all, selective or only the login employment units.
The competencies applicable to the process.
The cost centers to which the process should be mapped.
In addition, the system gives you the flexibility of activating or deactivating the process whenever necessary. If you choose to activate the process, it means that it will be available for use in other activities.
Mapping the competencies to the process: After defining the process with the required attributes, you can map the required competencies to it. Competencies refer to the skills, knowledge and behavioral traits that an employee attached to the process must possess for optimum performance. For example, effective communication skills enable an employee attached to the marketing process to function efficiently.
Mapping the process to a cost center: Mapping the process to a cost center is the final stage in creating a process. Cost centers refer to the functional units into which an organization is divided, for costing purposes. When you map the process to a particular cost center, it indicates that all the costs and expenditure incurred on the process will be apportioned to the specified cost center.
