Types of authorization predefined in Workflow
There are three types of authorization configured for an area, through Workflow Management, each of which is described below. They are
Authorization through configurator
Single step authorization without configurator
Authorization not required
Whenever authorization is not applicable, a notification can be sent.
Authorization through configurator: If this type of authorization is chosen, the number of levels of authorization will be completely defined in Workflow Management. The employee identified for authorizing at each level will be defined, as well.
For example, you can define authorization of a leave application to be at two levels. This means that after the employee applies for leave, the first level authorization will be carried out by the employee’s supervisor. This will be followed by the second level authorization, by the HR administrator.
Single step authorization without configurator: If this type of authorization is chosen, the number of levels of authorization will be restricted to one.
For example, you can define authorization of this type for leave encashment. This implies that a self service employee will apply for leave encashment, and the supervisor will authorize this application.
Authorization not required: If this type of authorization is chosen for a given area, in Workflow Management, no authorization is required.
For example, this type of authorization can be defined for leave application. The HR user will enter the leave application details on behalf of the employee. When the HR user saves the leave details, this leave application will be implicitly considered authorized. It goes for no authorization.
Notification only: If this is chosen, no authorization will be required for the document. After the document is saved, a notification is automatically sent to a designated employee. This employee will be designated in Workflow Management.
For example, after a leave type master is created and saved in the Leave Definition component, the system will send the notification to the HR Manager.
Areas refer to business functionalities. Typical examples of areas could be as follows:

Leave Entitlement
