Prerequisites

What you can do in this activity

Through this activity, you can request the system to process the leave units that a batch of employees is eligible to carry over. Carry over refers to the total balance of leave units of the employee during a periodicity, which can be carried over to the next periodicity. . Through this activity, you can process the leave units of those leave types that are not mapped to leave calendars.

Note that although each employee is eligible to carry over a specific number of leave units of certain leave types, they are not actually carried over until the batch processing in this activity takes place.

Processing Date: At the outset, you are to specify the organization unit and the date of processing. The system retrieves all the leave types in the organization unit that are not mapped to leave calendars. After the leave types are retrieved, you can select some or all of the leave types, to request the batch processing for the employees mapped to these leave types.

Session ID: After you selected the leave types, the system checks whether all the prerequisite conditions required for processing are satisfied. If they are satisfied, the system generates a Session ID. The generation of the session ID indicates that the employee records are ready for the processing of the selected leave types.

The session ID uniquely identifies the leave type processing that a system carries out on a set of records This unique ID is necessary when more than one instance of leave type processing is being carried out simultaneously. The system will now carry out processing.

Processing: During processing, the system executes the following:

Status The status of the processing will be set to “Initiated”.

Processing

Processing refers to identifying the eligible employee records, calculating the balance leave units for each record and updating them.

Processing is normally required when a calculation or complex operation must be carried out for numerous records. In such cases, the computation is carried out for these records only when the user requests the system to process a specified batch of records.

For example, a given stored procedure rule defines the rules of leave entitlement for all employees in the organization; the type of leave is casual leave. However, the employee is not entitled to the leave units unless the batch processing is initiated by a user. During the batch process, the system will identify him as an eligible employee, calculate the casual leave units for him and allocate them to him.
