Processing date

Enter a date in the “Processing Date” field, to request the system to process for the next sequential period after the last processed period. The working of the system will depend upon whether

The employee’s leave entitlement is not updated:This implies that the employee’s entitlement has never been processed, or has not been processed for the last few periods. In such instances, when you enter the processing date, the system first identifies the last period for which the processing was completed. The system will now process for the next sequential period after the last processed period.

For example, the employee joined on March 5 2003, and the periodicity for the leave type Casual Leave is 6 months. It means that his first period is from March 5 2003 until September 4 2003, his next period from September 5 2003 until March 4 2004, and so on. The employee’s entitlement has never been processed.

On November 2 2004, the HR user may decide to process the employee’s entitlement, and he enters the date as November 2 2004, in the “Process Leave Entitlement Non-Calendar-Based” page. However, the system will process the employee’s entitlement for the period March 5 2003 to September 4 2003. If the HR user decides to again process the employee’s leave entitlement units, and enters November 2 2004 again, the system will now process for the period from September 5 2003 until March 4 2004. The HR user, therefore, requires to continue the processing until the employee’s current period is reached, if his processing is to be updated for the current period.

The employee’s leave entitlement is updated:This implies that the employee’s entitlement for past periods was processed. Using the example above, consider that the same employee’s leave entitlement units were all processed except for the current period.

On November 2 2004, when the HR user decides to process the employee’s entitlement, he enters the date as November 2 2004.The system derives the employee’s current period as September 5 2004 until March 4 2005, and calculates the leave units to which he is entitled for this period.
