This page allows you to view the balance sheet of a company in the standard format. Tell me more.

The “View Default Balance Sheet” page appears.

Book Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the type of book for which you want to view the balance sheet as on a particular date. All the types of finance books that have been deployed in the login organizational unit will be available for selection. The finance book could be of any of these types “Posting finance book”, “Main finance book”, or “Consolidation finance book”. The system displays “Posting Finance Book” by default when the page is launched.

Finance Book

Use the drop-down list box to select the code identifying the finance book for which you want to view the balance sheet. All the “Posting” finance books deployed in the login organizational unit will be available for selection in the ascending order.

The system displays the following:

Base Currency

The ISO currency code identifying the base currency of the company.

Financial Year

Use the drop-down list box to select the financial year for which you want to view the balance sheet. All the financial years irrespective of their status will be available for selection in the chronological order. The financial years will be available along with their start dates and end dates.

Financial Period

Use the drop-down list box to select the financial period for which you want to view the balance sheet. All the financial periods defined for the selected financial year till the current financial period will be available for selection. The financial period will be available along with their start dates and end dates. The system displays “Blank” by default on launch of the page.

Year to Date

Check the box if you want to have the balances from the beginning of the financial year within which the system date falls.

Note: If this field is not checked the balance from the beginning of the financial period within which the system date falls will be retrieved.

Comparative Financial Year

Use the drop-down list box to select the financial year with which you want to compare the balance sheet that you want to view. All the financial years irrespective of their status will be available for selection in the chronological order. The financial years will be available along with their start dates and end dates. The system displays “Blank” by default on launch of the page.

Comparative Financial Period

Use the drop-down list box to select the financial period for which you want to view the balance sheet. All the financial periods defined for the selected financial year till the current financial period will be available for selection. The financial period will be available along with their start dates and end dates. The system displays “Blank” by default on launch of the page.

Display Option

Use the drop-down list box to set whether you want to view the balance sheet figures in “In Billions”, “In Millions” or “In Thousands”. The system displays “In Millions” by default on launch of the page.

Assets 

Cash and Equivalents

Indicates cash in any form that is available for use without having to wait for a long period of time. Undeposited checks, money orders and drafts are also considered as cash. The system displays the sum total of the balances of all the accounts that have been mapped to the “Cash and Equivalents” layout heading in the “Create Operative Chart of Account” activity of the “Accounting Setup” business component.

Short – Term Investments

Indicates cash equivalents which include short-term investments that can be easily convertible to known amounts of cash. These investments must be close to their maturity dates and hence have a negligible risk in value change due to changes in interest etc. The system displays the sum total of the balances of all the accounts that have been mapped to the “Short – Term Investments” layout heading in the “Create Operative Chart of Account” activity of the “Accounting Setup” business component.

Total Cash And Short Term Equivalents

The sum total of the account balances available for the layout headings “Cash and Equivalents” and “Short – Term Investments”.

Account Receivables

Indicates an amount due from a customer after a regular business transaction. The system displays the sum total of the balances of all the accounts that have been mapped to the “Account Receivables” layout heading in the “Create Operative Chart of Account” activity of the “Accounting Setup” business component.

Inventories

Indicates the value of material that are available for sale and also for production. The basis of valuation of the goods and the method in which the pricing is done must have been disclosed in the balance sheet notes. In case of a manufacturing concern, the raw materials, work in progress and the finished goods will be differentiated while disclosing the value. The system displays the sum total of the balances of all the accounts that have been mapped to the “Inventories” layout heading in the “Create Operative Chart of Account” activity of the “Accounting Setup” business component.

Financing Receivables

The system displays the sum total of the balances of all the accounts that have been mapped to the “Financing Receivables” layout heading in the “Create Operative Chart of Account” activity of the “Accounting Setup” business component.

Deferred Income Taxes (Advance)

Indicates an amount that has to be paid as statutory tax. This amount is calculated based on the projections for the year and the actuals of the previous year. The system displays the sum total of the balances of all the accounts that have been mapped to the “Deferred Income Taxes (Advances)” layout heading in the “Create Operative Chart of Account” activity of the “Accounting Setup” business component.

Other Current Assets

Indicates the value of any assets that are not classified under any of the above layout headings. The system displays the sum total of the balances of all the accounts that have been mapped to the “Other Current Assets” layout heading in the “Create Operative Chart of Account” activity of the “Accounting Setup” business component.

Total Current Assets

The sum total of the account balances available for the layout headings “Total Cash and Short-term Equivalents”, “Account Receivables”, “Inventories”, “Financing Receivables” and “Other Current Assets” on the selected date.

Goodwill

Indicates the value of non-current or intangible assets of a business, which yield benefits. The system displays the sum total of the balances of all the accounts that have been mapped to the “Goodwill” layout heading in the “Create Operative Chart of Account” activity of the “Accounting Setup” business component.

Property, Plant and Equipment Net

Indicates the value of assets that are used in production of material or that renders services without being sold directly. Machinery and equipment, buildings, furniture and fixtures or land are typical examples. The value of these assets must be disclosed with their depreciation. The system displays the sum total of the balances of all the accounts that have been mapped to the “Property, Plant and Equipment Net” layout heading in the “Create Operative Chart of Account” activity of the “Accounting Setup” business component.

Equity and Other Investments

Indicates the value of stocks bonds and long term investments that would yield cash after an extended period of time. The system displays the sum total of the balances of all the accounts that have been mapped to the “Equity and Other Investments” layout heading in the “Create Operative Chart of Account” activity of the “Accounting Setup” business component.

Other Assets

Indicates asset values that do not fall under the heads that have been outline above. The system displays the sum total of the balances of all the accounts that have been mapped to the “Other Assets” layout heading in the “Create Operative Chart of Account” activity of the “Accounting Setup” business component.

Total Assets

The sum total of the account balances available for the layout headings “Total Cash and Short Term Equivalents”, “Total Current Assets”, “Goodwill”, “Property, Plant and Equipment Net”, “Equity and Other Investments” and “Other Assets” on the selected date.

Liabilities & Stockholder’s Equity 

Current Liabilities

Indicates obligations that arise from acquisition of material or service, receipt of payment in advance for future supply of material or services or rents received in advance. The system displays the sum total of the balances of all the accounts that have been mapped to the “Current Liabilities” layout heading in the “Create Operative Chart of Account” activity of the “Accounting Setup” business component.

Short – Term Borrowings

Indicates obligations that arise from having borrowed money that is to be returned in a very short span of time, like, within the same financial period or year. The system displays the sum total of the balances of all the accounts that have been mapped to the “Shot – Term Borrowings” layout heading in the “Create Operative Chart of Account” activity of the “Accounting Setup” business component.

Accounts Payable, Principally Trade Accounts

Indicates amounts due for payment towards acquisition of material or services. The system displays the sum total of the balances of all the accounts that have been mapped to the “Accounts Payable, Principally Trade Accounts” layout heading in the “Create Operative Chart of Account” activity of the “Accounting Setup” business component.

Dividend Payable

Indicates the amount payable as dividend at the end of a financial year. The system displays the sum total of the balances of all the accounts that have been mapped to the “Dividend Payable” layout heading in the “Create Operative Chart of Account” activity of the “Accounting Setup” business component.

Total Current Liabilities

The sum total of the account balances available for the layout headings “Current Liabilities”, “Short term Borrowings”, “Accounts Payable, Principally Trade Accounts” and  “Dividends payable” for a selected date.

Share Capital & Premium Reserves and Surplus

Indicates any amount that has been reserved for the future or an amount that is unutilized. The system displays the sum total of the balances of all the accounts that have been mapped to the “Share Capital & Premium Reserves and Surplus” layout heading in the “Create Operative Chart of Account” activity of the “Accounting Setup” business component.

Long – Term Borrowings

Indicates obligations that arise from having borrowed money that is due for return after a lengthy time period. The system displays the sum total of the balances of all the accounts that have been mapped to the “Long – Term Borrowings” layout heading in the “Create Operative Chart of Account” activity of the “Accounting Setup” business component.

Insurance Liabilities & Other Annuity Benefits

Indicates obligations that arise from paying insurance and other benefits to employees. The system displays the sum total of the balances of all the accounts that have been mapped to the “Insurance Liabilities & Other Annuity Benefits” layout heading in the “Create Operative Chart of Account” activity of the “Accounting Setup” business component.

All Other Liabilities

Indicates any obligations that do not fall under the heads that have been outline above. The system displays the sum total of the balances of all the accounts that have been mapped to the “All Other Liabilities” layout heading in the “Create Operative Chart of Account” activity of the “Accounting Setup” business component.

Deferred Income Taxes (Provision)

Indicates income taxes that can be paid at a later point of time. The system displays the sum total of the balances of all the accounts that have been mapped to the “Deferred Income Taxes (Provision)” layout heading in the “Create Operative Chart of Account” activity of the “Accounting Setup” business component.

Total Liabilities

The sum total of the account balances available for the layout headings “Total Current Liabilities”, “Share Capital Premium Reserves and Surplus”, “Insurance Liabilities & Other Annuity Benefits”, “All Other Liabilities”, “Deferred Income Taxes’ and the difference of “Long Term Borrowings” and “Repayment of Financial Lease Liabilities”.

The system prints the balance sheet.

Viewing balance sheet – An overview

You can select the type of finance book, the code identifying the finance book, the financial year and period for which you want to view the balance sheet. You can also select a financial year and period to retrieve a balance sheet against which you want to compare the balance sheet that you want to view. The balance sheet will be generated in the base currency of the company. You can set whether you want to view the balance sheet figures in billions, in millions or in thousands. The system generates the balance sheet details. You can also print the balance sheet.
