Creating delivery areas

This page allows you to create a delivery area code. You can enter its description. Tell me more

Select the “Create Delivery Area” link under the “Delivery Area” business component.

The “Create Delivery Area” page appears.

Enter the following details in the “Delivery Area Details” multiline:

Delivery Area Code	A unique code identifying the delivery area (Alphanumeric, 18). Mandatory. This can be a combination of characters and digits. The system checks for the existence of the delivery area in the login organization unit.
Delivery Area Description	The description of the delivery area (Alphanumeric, 25). Mandatory.

The system displays the following field:

Level

The level at which the delivery area is placed in the hierarchy. This field is filled automatically by the system on clicking the “Create Delivery Area(s)” pushbutton.

Note: In case the delivery area being defined is a sub entry within an already existing parent delivery area, then the level of the delivery area being defined will be based on the level of parent delivery area. The system displays the level of the highest delivery area as ‘1‘ and this delivery area will not be attached to any parent delivery area.

Enter the following:

Parent Delivery Area Code	A unique code identifying the parent delivery area (Alphanumeric, 18). The system checks for the existence of the parent delivery area code in the login organization unit.
	Help facility available.

Note: Ensure that the parent delivery area code is in “Active” status.

The system displays the following field:

Parent Delivery Area Description

The description of the parent delivery area. The system retrieves the description of the parent delivery area based on the code entered.

Enter the following:

Remarks

Any additional comments pertaining to the delivery area (Alphanumeric, 255).

Check the box in the “Select “ column of the multiline, to mark the delivery area code to be created.

To proceed, carry out the following

Select the “View Parent Delivery Area” link at the bottom of the page to view the parent delivery area details.

To create the delivery areas

Click the “Create Delivery Area (S)” pushbutton to create delivery area code(s).

The system performs the following actions after clicking the “Create Delivery Area(S)” pushbutton:

The status of the delivery area code is updated as “Active" and the delivery area code and its associated details are stored.
The system ensures that the parent delivery area code is in “Active” status.
The system generates the level number starting from “1”, which is the highest level. The level number is incremented as it goes down the hierarchy, as in the example 1, 2, 3, 4, 5..........n. The level number is generated automatically, considering the following:
If the parent delivery area code is not entered, the level of the new delivery area code will be set as "1".
If the parent delivery area code is entered, the system assigns a level to the new delivery area by adding “1” to the level of the parent delivery area code.

The system displays the following:

Created By	The login user ID of the person who has created the delivery area.
Created Date	The date on which the delivery area was created.

Creating delivery areas – An overview

This page allows you to create a delivery area code. You can enter its description. You can also define the parent delivery area code and subsequently create multiple delivery area codes. The status of the newly created delivery area code is set as “Active”.

Create a parent delivery area and multiple delivery areas

You can create multiple delivery areas or locations by assigning various levels at which the delivery areas can be placed, with respect to the hierarchy in the parent delivery area.

You can define a delivery area as parent delivery area by assigning various sub delivery areas within it.

Enter multiple delivery area codes in the “Delivery Area Details” multiline.
Enter the parent delivery area code for each delivery area.
Click the “Create Delivery Area(s)” pushbutton.

The system assigns the highest level number for the parent delivery area and subsequent level numbers for the delivery areas under the parent delivery area.
