Competency Definition Unit

Select the organization unit in which you require to edit competency information. Tell me more.

Language

The system displays the language in which the login user logged in. This refers to the language you selected in the login screen, to access this activity.

From the drop-down list box, select the language in which you require to edit the competency details.

To select through Direct Entry

Use this method if you know the complete code of the competency.

To select through Search Criteria

Use this method, if you know just a few characters of the Competency code or the competency short description. In the search criteria group box, specify the search criteria based on which the system will fetch the records.

To specify the search criteria, you must enter one or more characters that the competency code or description contains. Search based on wild card characters is also supported.

Competency Code

To view the competency codes containing specific characters, type in the starting character(s) of the competency codes followed by the wild card *.

Alternatively, type in these characters in any combination with wild cards. Example, CCY*, will search for those competency codes that start with CCY1 Other examples are *CCY1, C*1 and CCY* etc.

Competency Short Description

To view all competency short descriptions containing specific characters type in the starting character/s of the short description followed by the wild card *.

 Alternatively, type in these characters in any combination with wild cards. Example, Com*, will search for those competency short descriptions that start with Com*,. Other examples are *Skills Markng*S, and *Union Nego* etc.

Status

The completion status of the competency record. Indicates if the definition of the competency has been competed or otherwise. The drop-down list box displays the following value: “Completed”, “Pending”.

If you select “Completed”, the system searches among competency records that have been completely defined. If you select “Pending”, the system searches among competency records that are still being defined. From the drop-down list box, select the required value.

Note: If only one search criteria value is entered, the system will fetch the records that satisfy this value. If more than one search criteria value is entered, the system will fetch the records satisfying all the specified values. If you do not enter any value in the search criteria group box
 
and select the “Search” pushbutton, the system will fetch all the records that are applicable to the selected competency definition unit.

Competency Code

The code of the competency.

Competency Short Description

A brief description of the competency.

Competency MDL

The minimum desired level(MDL) of a competency indicates the minimum extent to which the competency must be present in an employee. For example, if the MDL for the competency “Communication Skills” is 3 or 4, it indicates the minimum extent to which the competency must be present in the employee. In this example, the maximum value of the competency is set as 5, in the system parameters.

Status

The completion status of the competency record. “Completed” indicates that the competency definition has been defined down to the element level for all classes mapped to the competency. “Pending” indicates that the competency is still being defined.
