Basics of using a typical web page

The “Build Kit” page appears.

Note: To build a kit part, the Build option for the kit part must be flagged in the “Maintain Kit Composition” activity of the Part Administration component.

The system displays the following in the “Kit Details” group box.

Kit Build #

The number identifying the Build Kit or the Re-build Kit transaction.

The system generates the kit build # on the basis of the Numbering Type defined for the "Build Kit" transaction in the Document Numbering Class component.

If you are building / rebuilding the kit part for the first time, the transaction # appears after you have saved the “Build Kit” pushbutton.

Kit Operation

The action to be performed on kit parts, such a Build or Rebuild.

Status

The status of the kit build, such as Fresh, Allocated, Confirmed, Cancelled or Short closed.

Additional information related to the kit build document.

Kit Category

Use the drop-down list box to select the category of the kit part you want to build or rebuild. The drop-down list box displays the categories defined under Category For “Build Kit” in the Create Common Category activity of the Logistics Common Masters business component.

User Status

Use the drop-down list box to select the user status of the kit. The drop-down list displays the user statuses defined for the document type “Build / Break Kit” in the Logistics Common Master component.

Requested by

The code and name of the employee who requested for the kit.

Help facility available

Kitted by

The code and name of the employee who assembled the kit.

Warehouse #

The destination warehouse for the kit parts and the source warehouse for the kit constituents, Mandatory.

Prerequisites for the selected warehouse

  • The warehouse must be valid with an Active” status as defined in the Storage Administration component.

  • The warehouse must be mapped to the “Build Kit” transaction.

  • The login user must have rights to the warehouse.

  • The warehouse must allow storage of parts of type “Kit”.

  • The warehouse must allow the kit part with the stock status and condition that you are to specify.

Kit Ownership

Use the drop-down list box to select the ownership of the kit part. The drop-down list box displays: Internal and Customer. Select,

  • “Internal”, if the organization holds ownership of the kit.

  • “Customer”, if a customer holds the ownership of the kit.

Ownership #

The number that identifies the owner of the kit part. This field is mandatory, if the owner of the kit is a customer. The customer # you specify must be valid as defined in the Customer document and its operational status must be set to “Active”.

Kit Part #

The part # of the kit, Mandatory.

The part you specify must be a valid part of part type “Kit” as defined in the Part Administration component. The part # must also have an “Active” planning status and its “Build “attribute enabled in the Part Administration component.

Kit Qty

The number of kit parts you wish to build.

Mfr. Part #

The part # of the kit as allotted by the manufacturer. The manufacturer part # must be valid as defined in the Part Administration component.

Mfr. #

The number that identifies the manufacturer of the kit.

Note: The kit part # and manufacturer part # combination must be valid as defined in the Part Administration component. Further, the manufacturer part # and manufacturer # combination must be valid for the kit part # as defined in the “Create Part Main Information” activity of the Part Administration component.

Stock Status

Use the drop-down list box to select the stock status of the kit, Mandatory. The drop-down list box displays all stock statuses associated with the kit part ownership.

The stock status of the kit part that you select must also be mapped to

  • The warehouse of the kit.

  • The “Build Kit” transaction

Condition

Use the drop-down list box to select the operational condition of the kit. The drop-down list box displays: New, Overhauled, Serviceable and Unserviceable.

Status

Use the drop-down list box to select the status of the constituent parts that must be picked for the kit. The drop-down list box displays: Any Stock Status and Kit Stock Status. Select,

  • Any Stock Status, to indicate that parts with any of the stock statuses mapped to the ownership of the kit can be allocated for the kit.

  • Kit Stock Status, to indicate that parts with stock status the same as the kit must be allocated for the kit.

Condition

Use the drop-down list box to select the condition of the constituent parts that must be picked for kit. The drop-down list box displays: Any Condition and Kit Condition. Select,

  • Any Condition, to indicate that parts with any of the conditions mapped to the ownership of the kit can be allocated for the kit.

  •  Kit Condition, to indicate that parts with condition the same as the kit must be allocated for the kit.

Min. Expected Shelf Life

The period during which all the constituent parts of the kit part are valid for use.

On click of this pushbutton, a message shows the number of kits that can be built based on the following factors.

Note: If the kit operation is “Rebuild”, the Kit Details” tab page is displayed in a disabled state. (This indicates you cannot input any values in the tab page.)

Zone #

The zone in the warehouse that is used to store the kit.

If the warehouse for the kit is of type “Normal”, it is mandatory to specify zone # here or n the “Kit Details” multiline. You can specify the zone # here, if the zone is the same for all the kit serial #s. On the contrary, you must not specify any zone #, if the warehouse is of type “Free”.

Note: The zone # must be valid for the warehouse as defined in the Storage Administration component.

Bin #

The bin of the zone in the warehouse that is used to store the kit. You can specify the bin # here or in the "Kit Details“ multiline. You can specify the bin # here, if the bin is the same for all the kit serial #s.

Note: The bin # must be valid for the zone # of the warehouse as defined in the Storage Administration component.

Mfr. Serial #

The serial # of the kit as allotted by the manufacturer.

Mfr. Lot #

The lot # of the kit as allotted by the manufacturer.

Zone #

The zone in the warehouse that stores the kit.

If the warehouse for the kit is of type “Normal”, it is mandatory to specify zone # here or in the “Default Details” multiline. On the contrary, you must not specify any zone #, if the warehouse is of type “Free”.

Note: The zone # must be valid for the warehouse as defined in the Storage Administration component.

Bin #

The bin of the zone in the warehouse that stores the kit. You can specify the bin # here or in the “Kit Details“ multiline.

Any comments or additional information on the kit serial #

The “Kit Details” multiline displays the following.

Serial #

The serial # of the kit as generated by the system.

Lot #

The lot # of the kit as generated by the system.

Inspection Status

The inspection status of the kit, such as Pending, Inspected, Not Applicable or Hold.

If the kit part does not require inspection as defined in the “Set Inventory Process Parameter” activity of the Logistics Common Master for the Inspection Category Build/Re-build transaction, this field displays “Not Applicable". However, if the Enforce Inspection attribute for the Build/Re-build transaction is set, this field displays “Required”.

Line Status

The status of the kit serial #, such as Fresh, Allocated, Confirmed, Canceled  or Short closed.

Line #

The line # for the kit serial # generated by the system. This number is incremented with every serial #you add of the kit part in this activity.

This tab page enables you to enter details of constituent parts of the kit serial #. The system uses these details to source, allocate, and issue constituent parts towards the creation of the kit part # serial #. However, if you have selected the “Allocate Parts” check box, you may visit this tab page only after you have clicked the “Create Kit” pushbutton. You can then see details of constituent parts allocated to the kit part automatically by the system.

Mfr. Serial #

Use the drop-down list box to select the serial # of the kit for which you are to record constituent details. The drop-down list box displays all the numbers available in the Mfr. Serial # column in the “Kit Details” multiline of the “Kit Details” tab.

The “Kit Serial Information” group box displays the following.

Line Status

The status of the kit serial #, such as Fresh, Allocated, Confirmed, Completed, Canceled or Short Closed.

Display Option

The display option will be one of the following

  • “All Constituents”, if the kit operation is “Build” or

  • “Incomplete Constituents”, if the kit operation is “Rebuild”.

The “Kit Constituent Details” multiline displays the following.

BOM Part #

The constituent part of the kit as defined in the “Maintain Kit Composition” activity.

Constituent Part #

The constituent part in the kit. The constituent part # must be the same as the BOM part #, if “Alternate Allowed?” set to “No” as defined in the Maintain Kit Composition” activity in the Part Administration” component. However, if “Alternate Allowed?” is “Yes”, the constituent part # must a valid alternate of the BOM part#.

Quantity

The numbers of constituent part in the kit. The quantity you specify must be greater than 0. You can enter a quantity in fraction, only if the stock UOM for the part allows a fractional value as defined in the Unit of Measurement component.

The quantity must be less than or equal to the quantity of the BOM part # specified in the “Maintain Kit Composition” activity in the Part Administration component. However, the quantity must be equal to the BOM part # quantity, if building of incomplete kit is not allowed.

The multiline displays the following.

Stock UOM

The unit of measurement of the constituent part.

Stock Status

The stock status of the constituent part of the kit. Use the drop-down list box to select the status of the kit, Mandatory. The drop-down list box displays all stock statuses associated with the part ownership. Note: The stock status you select must be mapped to the warehouse of the kit.

Condition

Use the drop-down list box to select the operational condition of the constituent part. The drop-down list box displays New, Overhauled, Serviceable and Unserviceable.

Serial #

The serial # of the constituent part.

Mfr. Serial #

The manufacturer serial #of the constituent part.

Note: The serial # and manufacturer serial # combination must be valid for the constituent part as defined in the Stock Maintenance component.

Lot #

The lot # of the constituent part that must be issued for creation of the kit.

Mfr. Lot #

The manufacturer lot # of the constituent part, which must be issued for creation of the kit.

Note: The lot # and manufacturer lot # combination must be valid for the constituent part as defined in the Stock Maintenance component.

Zone #

The zone of the warehouse from where the constituent parts are issued for creation of the kit serial #. The zone you specify here overrides the zone provided in the “Default Details” group box.

Bin #

The bin in the zone of the warehouse from where the constituent parts are issued for creation of the kit serial #. The bin you specify here overrides the bin you have provided in the “Default Details” group box.

Note: The zone # and bin # you specify must be valid as defined in the Storage Administration component.

Remarks

Any comments or additional information the constituent part.

Mfr. Constituent Part #

The manufacturer part # of the constituent part.

The part # you specify must be valid as defined in the Part Administration component.

Mfr. #

The number identifying the manufacturer of the part.

The manufacturer # is mandatory, if more than one part exists in the inventory for manufacturer part #.

Note: 1) The constituent part # and manufacturer constituent part # combination must be valid as defined in the Part Administration component. Further, the manufacturer part # and manufacturer constituent part # combination must be valid for the constituent part # as defined in the Part Administration component as well.

2) The Mfr. Constituent Part # and the Mfr. # are not displayed, if the Kit Build # - Kit Operation - Const. Part Mfr. Details (Show/Hide) option is set to “Hide” in the “Set Inventory Process Parameter” activity in the Logistics Common Master component

Expiry Date

The expiry date of the constituent part.

BOM Part Description

The BOM part description as available in the “Maintain Kit Composition” activity.

Constituent Part Description

The part description defined in the “Create Part Main Information” activity in the Part Administration component.

Part Control Type

The part control type of the constituent part, such as Lot Controlled, Serial Controlled or None.

Remarks

Any comments or additional information on the constituents or the kit.

Cancellation Comments

Reasons for the cancellation of the kit. This field is mandatory only if you want to cancel the kit building process.

Allocate Parts

Select the check box, if you want the system to automatically allocate constituents to the kit part based on the pre-defined picking strategy for constituents. (Note: The picking strategy for parts is defined as part of Planning definition in the Part Administration component.) However, if the picking strategy for a constituent part is set to “Manual”, the system allocates the required quantities of constituent parts to the kit part on the basis of FIFO strategy.

By default, this box remains checked.

Allow Incomplete Kit?

Select the check box to create an incomplete kit. This means a kit can be created even if one or more of the constituents are allocated in less than requisite quantities.

Note: To disallow building of incomplete kits, do not select the ”Allow Incomplete Kit”.

Building/re-building kit parts

The system performs the following on click of the “Build Kit” pushbutton

Note: The status (as indicated by the line status) of the kit serial #  must not be Canceled”, “Short Closed”, “Allocated” or “Confirmed”.

For a kit serial #, the system processes in the following way:

Completing kit parts

Note: It is mandatory to record the Hazmat compliance information for kit parts, if the parameter ”Build/Re-build Kit” under category Hazmat Compliance is set to “Enforce Compliance” in the Set Inventory Process Parameters activity of the Logistics Common Master component. Similarly, it is mandatory to record inspection details for a kit part, if the parameter ”Build/Re-build Kit” under category Inspection is set to “Enforce Inspection”.

The system processes all the kit serial #s with “Allocated” status in the following way:-.

Canceling kit parts

Note: You cannot cancel a kit build/constituent part that is already in “Canceled”, “Short Closed” or “Confirmed” status.

The “Record Statistics” group box displays the following updated information.

Created by

The code and name of the employee who built the kit for the first time.

Created Date

The date on which the kit was built for the first time.

Last Modified by

The code and name of the employee who most recently modified the kit.

Last Modified Date

The date on which the kit was most recently modified.

Note: You must record inspection details for a kit part, if Parameter Update? is set to Mandatory for the part in the part definition.
