Allocate Parts |
Select the check box, if you want the system to automatically allocate constituents to the kit part based on the pre-defined picking strategy for constituents. (Note: The picking strategy for parts is defined as part of Planning definition in the Part Administration component.) However, if the picking strategy for a constituent part is set to “Manual”, the system allocates the required quantities of constituent parts to the kit part on the basis of FIFO strategy. By default, this box remains checked. |
Allow Incomplete Kit? |
Select the check box to create an incomplete kit. This means a kit can be created even if one or more of the constituents are allocated in less than requisite quantities. Note: To disallow building of incomplete kits, do not select the ”Allow Incomplete Kit”. |
Building/re-building kit parts
Click the “Build Kit” pushbutton.
The system performs the following on click of the “Build Kit” pushbutton
The system saves the kit build/kit re-build document/transaction and sets the status of the kit build document as well as that of all the kit serial #s to “Fresh”.
The constituent part details as defined in the “Maintain Kit Composition” activity are retrieved in the Kit Constituent Part Details tab page.
If the "Allocate" check box is selected, the system allocates constituent parts to the kit part serial on the basis of the picking strategy defined for the constituent part.
If the Allocate Parts check box is selected, the system allocates the constituent parts as indicated by the picking strategy defined in Part Administration component for the constituent part. To specify constituent details, do not select the “Allocate Parts” check box. However, you may specify details in the “Kit Constituent Details” tab only after building a kit part.
If “Allow Incomplete Kit?“ is checked, the system allows creation of the kit part serial # even if the required number of all the constituents for the kit as defined in the “Maintain Kit Composition” activity are not available in the warehouse. The kit build is confirmed by the system even if 1 quantity of a single constituent part is available in the inventory. However, if “Allow Incomplete Kit Build “ is not selected, the constituent parts and their quantities that you specify must strictly conform to the definition recorded in the “Maintain Kit Composition” activity.Sets the inspection status of the kit part to “Pending”, if the inspection category “Build/Re-build Kit” is set to “Enforce Inspection” in the Logistics Common Masters component. Otherwise, the inspection status becomes “Not Applicable”.
If you delete any kit serial
# using the icon (available
above the “Kit Details” multiline), the system deletes all details
of its constituents. However, you can delete a kit serial # only if
it is in “Fresh” status.
Confirming kit parts
Select a kit serial # in the “Kit Details” tab.
Click the “Confirm Allocation” pushbutton.
Note: The status (as indicated by the line status) of the kit serial # must not be Canceled”, “Short Closed”, “Allocated” or “Confirmed”.
For a kit serial #, the system processes in the following way:
Creates a cumulative stock issue for all the constituent parts in “Fresh” status. The attributes of the issue document are set as follows:
Issue Type = “Kit Issue”
Ref. Doc Type = “Build Kit”
Ref.Doc # = Kit Build #
If “Allow Incomplete Kit?“ is not selected, the system allows confirmation only if the required number of all the constituents as defined in the “Maintain Kit Composition” activity are allocated to the kit serial#. However, if “Allow Incomplete Kit Build “ is set to “Yes”, the kit build is confirmed even if 1 quantity of a single constituent part is allocated/available in the inventory.
The status of the kit build # is set on the basis of the kit serial #s. The kit build # status will be “Fresh”, “Allocated” or “Confirmed”, if all the kit serial #s hold “Fresh”, “Allocated” or “Confirmed” status. However, if the status of the kit serial #s is a mix of “Fresh”, “Allocated” and “Confirmed”, the status of the kit build # is set to “Fresh”.This means the kit build inherits the least of the statuses of the kit serial #s.
Completing kit parts
Click the “Complete Kit Build ” pushbutton.
Note: It is mandatory to record the Hazmat compliance information for kit parts, if the parameter ”Build/Re-build Kit” under category Hazmat Compliance is set to “Enforce Compliance” in the Set Inventory Process Parameters activity of the Logistics Common Master component. Similarly, it is mandatory to record inspection details for a kit part, if the parameter ”Build/Re-build Kit” under category Inspection is set to “Enforce Inspection”.
The system processes all the kit serial #s with “Allocated” status in the following way:-.
Sets the status of the stock issue of the constituent parts to “Confirmed”.
Sets the status of the stock return of the kit serial # to “Confirmed”, if all the constituent parts are successfully allocated for the kit serial #. Stock Return for the kit serial # in “Confirmed’ status is generated to indicate the kit is available in the inventory. However, this happens only for builds only when the kit operation is “Build”.
The status of the kit build # is set on the basis of the kit serial #s. The kit build # status will be “Fresh”, “Allocated” or “Confirmed”, if all the kit serial #s hold “Fresh”, “Allocated” or “Confirmed” status. However, if the status of the kit serial #s is a mix of “Fresh”, “Allocated” and “Confirmed”, the status of the ki build # is set to “Fresh”. This means the kit build inherits the least of the statuses of the kit serial #s.
If the “Allow Incomplete Kit” check box is selected, the kit part status is set to “Confirmed” even if there is a mismatch between BOM part requirements and constituent parts as defined in “Maintain Kit Composition” activity.
If the “Allow Incomplete Kit” check box is selected, the kit part status is set to “Confirmed” even if there is a mismatch between BOM part requirements as defined in “Maintain Kit Composition” activity and constituent parts .
If the kit serial # is shelf-life controlled, the expiry date is set to the earliest expiry date among its constituent parts.
If a constituent part is added to the kit, the cost of the kit needs to be increased. The system generates positive Stock Correction to increase the value of the kit.
Canceling kit parts
Click the “Cancel Kit Build” pushbutton.
Note: You cannot cancel a kit build/constituent part that is already in “Canceled”, “Short Closed” or “Confirmed” status.
When you cancel a kit serial # in “Allocated” status, its status becomes” Short Closed”.
The status of the a kit serial # becomes “Canceled”, if its status is “Fresh”.
The “Record Statistics” group box displays the following updated information.
