Identifying parts for automatic external repairs
Select the “Set up Parts for Processing of External Repairs” link under the “Supplier” business component.
The “Set up Parts for automatic processing of External Repairs” page appears.
If you wish to modify details of parts already set up for automatic RO creation, enter the following in the “Search Criteria” group box to retrieve these parts. Data entry in these fields is optional.
Search On |
Use the drop-down list box to select the part attribute based on which you wish to retrieve parts. The drop-down list box displays the following: Auto RO?, From Warehouse #, Maintenance Type, Part Classification, Part Description, Repair Process Code, Repair Shop #, Repair Shop Name, Return to Warehouse # and RO Category. The system retrieves parts already set up for automatic RO creation that are associated with the attribute value you select/enter in the second drop-down list/input box. |
Click the “Get Details” pushbutton to retrieve parts matching the search criteria in the “Parts Details” multiline.
The system displays the following in the “Auto RO Details” group box.
Process Pending Jobs? |
Indicates whether pending maintenance tasks for component parts must be included in the system-generated repair order. The value displayed here is based on the definition of the parameter "Process pending jobs for Auto RO?" under the category "Repair Order" in the Purchase Option Settings activity of Logistics Common Master. |
Enter the following in the “Part Details” multiline for parts that you wish to mark for automatic RO generation. Alternately, you may modify details of retrieved parts in the multiline.
Part # |
The part that is entitled to external maintenance. This implies the part cannot be serviced with the organization and hence must inevitably be dispatched to an external repair agency for maintenance. Mandatory. Note: 1) The part # must be Active and valid as defined in Part Administration. 2) The planning status of the part must be ‘Active’ as defined for the part in the “Maintain Planning for Part” activity in Part Administration. Include Alternatives? |
Select the check box to indicate the alternate part of the part is also automatically entitled to external repairs. |
Warehouse Applicability |
Use the drop-down list box to indicate if all warehouses are or if a specific warehouse is bestowed with the Automatic RO Generation capability. The drop-down list box displays the following: All Other Warehouses and Specific Warehouse. |
From Warehouse # |
The warehouse that has the capability to generate the repair order automatically on authorization of a material return concerning the part. This warehouse would essentially be the warehouse from which the part is dispatched to the external repair agency for maintenance. Note: 1) The source warehouse is mandatory, if Warehouse Applicability is “Specific Warehouse”. 2) Do not specify the source warehouse, if Warehouse Applicability is “All Other Warehouses”. 3) The warehouse must be Active and valid as defined in Storage Administration component. 4) The warehouse must allow Repair Order Issue transaction. 5) The category of the warehouse must be ‘Unserviceable’. Repair Shop # |
The preferred external repair agency for the part. Mandatory. Note: The repair shop # must be Active, valid and Repair Agency as defined in Supplier. Help facility available |
Address ID # |
The address ID of the repair shop. Note: If you do not specify the address ID, the field will display the address ID of the repair shop with preference #1. Help facility available |
Return To Warehouse |
The warehouse to which the unserviceable part must be returned after servicing at the repair shop. Mandatory. Note: 1) The warehouse must be Active and valid as defined in Storage Administration component. 2) The part type and part classification is allowed in the warehouse. 3) The warehouse must allow Repair Receipt transaction. Auto RO? |
Use the drop-down list box to indicate. Mandatory. The drop-down list box displays the following: Draft, Released and Not Required. Select;

RO Category |
Use the drop-down list box to select the category of the repair order that must be automatically generated for the part on confirmation of the Material Return transaction. Mandatory. The drop-down list box displays all RO categories in Active status and currently valid as defined in Logistics Common Master. |
Repair Process Code |
Use the drop-down list box to select the repair process related to the maintenance task that must be executed on the part. Mandatory. The drop-down list box displays all repair process codes in Active status and currently valid as defined in Logistics Common Master. Mandatory. Note: If the option “Part-Repair Process Code mapped to Supplier” is 'Mandatory' in the Set Options activity of Supplier, the repair process code that you specify here must be valid to the repair shop. |
The “Part Details” multiline displays the following.
Maintenance Type |
The maintenance type for the repair process that the repair shop will execute on the part. |
Enter the following in the “Part Details” multiline.
Task # |
The maintenance task that must be executed on the part at the repair shop. Mandatory. Note: The task # must be Active and currently valid as defined in Maintenance Task. Further, the task # must also be effective for the part. Help facility available |
RO Remarks |
Additional information on the repair order, such as guidelines for servicing, shipping and hauling of the part. |
Repair Lead Time (Days) |
The requisite duration for servicing the part, in days. |
The “Part Details” multiline displays the following.
Under Contract? |
Indicates whether the part currently is covered by a maintenance contract with the repair agency. |
Execution Facility |
The execution facility as defined for the part in the “Maintain Maintenance Info for Part” activity in Part Administration. |
Part Description |
The description of the part. |
Prime? |
Indicates whether the part is a prime part. |
Repair Shop Name |
The name of the preferred repair agency for the part. |
Repair Shop Address |
The location address of the preferred repair agency for the part. |
Created By |
The name of the user who created the part record. |
Created Date |
The date on which the part record was created. |
Last modified by |
The name of the user who last modified the part record. |
Last modified Date |
The date on which the part record was last modified. |
Select the box for the parts in the multiline to save/delete.
Click the icon in the toolbar above the multiline, to delete the selected parts.
Click the “Save” pushbutton to save selected parts.
To proceed
Select the “Map Repair Services To Repair Shop” link to associate repair process codes to the repair shop.
Select the “Map Parts to Repair Services” link to associate repair process codes to parts in a repair shop.
Select the “View Part Info” link to view entire part details.
Select the “View Repair Shop” link to view entire repair shop details.
