Select the “Create Bin Information” link at the bottom of the “Zone Information” page.
The “Bin Information” page appears.
The system displays the following fields in the “Warehouse Details” group box:

The type of warehouse, which could be “Normal” or “Free”. |

Use the drop-down list box to select the zone for which the bin details have to be entered. The system displays all the “Active” zones of type “Normal”. |

Enter the following fields in the “Bin Details” multiline:
Bin # |
A unique number identifying the bin in the zone (Alphanumeric, 10). Mandatory. This can be a combination of characters and digits. This number should be unique within the zone. |
Bin Description |
The textual description of the bin (Alphanumeric, 150). Mandatory. |
Capacity Constraint |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the capacity of stock accommodated in the bin, which could be one of the following: |

The system sets the default value as defined in the “Capacity Constraint” field of “Entering zone information” page. |

Volume |
The volume of the stock stored in the bin (Decimal). It is mandatory to enter this field, if the “Capacity Constraint” field is “Volume”. |

The unit of measurement in which the volume of the part is measured (Alphanumeric, 10). The UOM must be defined in the “Create UOM” activity of the “Unit of Measurement” business component and must be in “Active” status. |
If the “Capacity Constraint” field is set to “Volume” and this field is left blank, the system displays the “Volume UOM” of the respective zone. |

For conversion of “Volume UOM” in bin to “Volume UOM“ in zone, ensure that the conversion factor is specified in the “Maintain UOM Conversion” activity of the “Part Administration” business component.
Weight |
The weight of the part stored in the bin (Decimal). It is mandatory to enter this field, if the “Capacity Constraint” field is “Weight”. |
Weight UOM |
The unit of measurement in which the part is weighed (Alphanumeric, 10). The UOM must be defined in the “Create UOM” activity of the “Unit of Measurement Administration” business component and must be in “Active” status. |
If the “Capacity Constraint” field is set to “Weight” and this field is left blank, the system displays the “Weight UOM” of the respective zone. |

File Name |
The name of the file used for document reference that is associated to the bin (Alphanumeric, 50). |
Remarks |
Any additional comments pertaining to the bin details (Alphanumeric, 255). |
Note: While checking for availability of parts, the system first checks the zone with the highest priority, and then the bin with the highest priority within the zone.

Ensure that atleast one bin number is entered in the multiline and the bin number is unique for the zone.
Click the “Create Bin Information” pushbutton to create the bin within the zone.
The system creates the bin number and set the status as "Active".
Entering bin information – An overview
A bin is the area in the zone that can be specifically allocated for storage of a particular part. You can define bins for zones of type “Normal”. You can enter a unique number for the bin and provide a description for it.
You can also specify the priority for the various bins in the zone. At the time of issuing a particular part or variant from the warehouse, the availability of the part will first be checked in the various zones, and then in the bins based on the priority assigned.
The system assigns the “Active” status as soon as the bin is created for the zone, and sets the creation date and time to the server date and time. You should ensure that the bin number is unique for the zone.

Specify the “Placement priority” for a bin
You can specify the priority in which the parts must be received in the bin. At the time of receiving a particular part from the zone, the parts will be placed in various bins based on the priority specified here.
Enter the priority in which the parts must be received in the zone in the “Placement Priority” field.
Set the ”Proximity Indicator” field to “Near”, if the stock is to be placed near the entrance of the bin.
Set the ”Proximity Indicator” field to “Medium”, if the stock is to be placed in the center of the bin.
Set the ”Proximity Indicator” field to “Far”, if the stock is to be placed away from the entrance of the bin.
