Selecting warehouse for defining storage allocation and strategies

This page allows you to select a warehouse for defining the storage allocation methods and the strategies to be adopted for the placement of parts. Tell me more

Select the “Maintain Storage Allocation and Strategies” link under the “Storage Administration” business component.

The “Select Warehouse” page appears.

Enter the following field in the “Direct Entry” group box, if you know the exact warehouse number:

Warehouse #

The number identifying the warehouse for which the allocation method must be defined (Alphanumeric, 10).

Select the “Maintain Storage Allocation” link provided alongside, to define the storage allocation methods.

To search for a warehouse

Enter the following in the “Search Criteria” group box, to search for a warehouse. Data entry in the following fields is optional:

Warehouse #	The number identifying the warehouse (Alphanumeric, 10). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the warehouses that are similar to the values entered here.
Warehouse Description	The textual description of the warehouse (Alphanumeric, 150). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the warehouses with descriptions that are similar to the description entered here.
Warehouse Type	Use the drop-down list box to select the type of the warehouse, which could be “Normal” or “Free”. The system lists all the warehouses that are in the type specified here. Leave this field blank if you wish to retrieve details of warehouses irrespective of their type. The system leaves the field blank by default.
Warehouse Category	Use the drop-down list box to specify the category to which the warehouse belongs. The system displays all the categories defined in the “Create Quick Codes” activity. The system retrieves all the warehouses belonging to the category specified here.

Click the “Search” pushbutton to display the search results.

The system displays the following in the “Search Results” multiline:

Warehouse #	The number identifying the warehouse.
Description	The textual description of the warehouse.
Warehouse Type	The type of the warehouse, which could be “Normal” or “Free”.
Warehouse Category	The category to which the warehouse belongs.

Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline, to mark the warehouse for defining storage allocation methods or strategies.

Select the “Maintain Storage Allocation” link at the bottom of the page, to define storage allocation methods.
Select the “Maintain External Stock Allocation” link at the bottom of the page, to define the storage address for stock received from supplier or customer.

Select the “Maintain Storage Strategies” link at the bottom of the page, to define the strategies for placement of parts in the warehouse.
