This page allows you to record all the details about parts to be scrapped.
Select the “Create Scrap Note” link under the “Scrap Management” business component.
The “Manage Scrap Note” page appears.
The system displays the following in the “Scrap Note Details” tab and “Scrap Note Info.” group box:
Scrap Note # |
A unique number identifying the scrap note. This number is generated by the system based on the numbering type specified, at the time of creating the scrap note. |
Enter the following in the “Scrap Note Info.” group box:
Scrap Note Date |
The date when the scrap note is created. Mandatory. The system displays the current date as the scrap note date, by default. |
Scrap Note Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the part type that is scrapped. The system displays two kinds of part types:

Part Expense Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the method by which the part will be expensed when part was purchased. The system displays the options “Capital”, “Revenue”, and “Both”. The system displays “Blank” by default. |
Note: This field is mandatory when the "Capital and Revenue Parts in a single Scrap Note" for “Scrap Note” is set as 'Allowed' in the “Set Inventory Process Parameter” activity of the “Logistics Common Master” business component.
User Status |
Use the drop-down list box to select the user-defined status of the scrap note. The system lists “Active” values defined in the “Create User Status” activity under the document “scrap note” of the Logistics Common Master business component. |
Priority |
Use the drop-down list to select the priority of the scrap note. The system lists all the “Active” priorities specified in the “Manage Priority Codes” activity in the “Logistics Common Master” business component |
Category |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the category of the scrap note. The system lists all the “Active” categories defined in the “Create Common Category” activity under the category “scrap” of the Logistics Common Master business component. |
The system displays the following in the “Scrap Note Details” tab and “Scrap Note Info.” group box:
Status |
The status of the scrap note. The status of the scrap note could be one of the following:

Note: This field is blank while creating a scrap note.
Generation Mode |
Indicates whether the scrap note is generated automatically or manually. The system displays one of the following values:

Total Scrap Value |
The sum total value of all the parts that are specified in the scrap note. This value is displayed at the time of creating the scrap note. |
Source Doc. Charge |
The BER cost of the parts in the scrap note. When a part is termed as “BER”, then the cost of the part is accounted only on approval of the scrap note. |
Enter the following in the “Initiated By” group box:
Material Control Group |
Certain Groups are authorized to create scrap note. Use the drop-down list box to specify the control group, who is authorized to create the scrap note. The system displays all the groups defined in the “Create Buyer Group” activity of the “Buyer Group” business component. |
Note: This field is mandatory, if the Material Group Control is set as 'Required' for the category “Scrap Note” in the “Set Inventory Process Parameter” activity of the “Logistics Common Master” business component. |

Initiated by Emp. # |
The employee code who initiates the need for the scrap note. The login employee code is displayed by default. |
Note: The “Emp #” must be mapped to atleast one 'Active' Buyer Group and the Effective To Date for the login user in the buyer group should be later than or equal to current date.
Initiated By Emp. Name |
The name of the employee initiating the need for the scrap note. |
Enter the following in the “Reference Details” tab and “Ref. Doc. Details” group box:
Ref. Document Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the reference document type based on which the scrap note is created. |
Ref. Document # |
The reference document number for which the scrap note is created (Alphanumeric, 40). |
Customer Order # |
The identification number of the customer order, against which the part was obtained for performing maintenance on the component or aircraft. (Alphanumeric, 40). Help facility available. |
Note: The above field is mandatory if the ownership status of the trading partner is set to “Customer”.
Other References |
Any other additional reference information is entered by the user (Alphanumeric, 2000). |
Work Center # |
The number identifying the work center from where the parts to be scrapped are present (Alphanumeric, 30). Mandatory, if the priority is "AOG" or "Normal". The work center number is defined in the “Create Work Center” activity in the “Work Center” business component and in the “Active” status. Help facility available. |
Station # |
Use the drop-down list box to select the code identifying the station where the parts to be scrapped are present. The station codes are defined in the “Create Station” activity of the “Common Masters” business component and in the “Active” status. |
Enter the following in the “Reference Details” tab and “Removed From” group box:
Aircraft Reg. # |
The aircraft registration number from where the part is removed for scrapping (Alphanumeric, 30). The aircraft registration number is defined in the “Create Aircraft Information” activity of the “Aircraft” business component and in the “Active” status. Help facility available. |
NHA Part # |
The number identifying the parent part, which is otherwise called the next higher assembly (Alphanumeric, 40). The NHA Part # is already defined in the “Part Administration” business component. Help facility available. |
Note: The “NHA Part #” must not be left blank, if the “NHA Serial #” is entered.
NHA Serial # |
The serial number of the NHA part (Alphanumeric, 40). Help facility available. |
Note: The “NHA Serial #” for the selected “NHA Part #” is defined in the “Aircraft” business component.
The system displays the following in the “Reference Details” tab and “Removed From” group box:
Component # |
The “Component #” associated to the specified NHA Part # and NHA Serial # combination and defined in the “Component Record” activity in the “Aircraft” business component is displayed. |
Enter the following in the “Ownership & Storage Details” group box:
Trading Partner Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the ownership status of the trading partner, which could be “Owned” or “Customer”. |
Trading Partner # |
The code identifying the trading partner (Alphanumeric, 45). Help facility available. |
Warehouse # |
Use the drop-down list box to select the warehouse from where the part is removed for scrapping. The system lists all the active warehouses defined in the “Create Warehouse Information” activity of the “Storage Administration” business component. |
Note:
1. This field is mandatory when the “Scrap Note Type” is set as “Regular”.
2. The “Warehouse #” must be valid for the “Part Type”
3. Scrap Note transaction must be allowed in the “Warehouse #” specified.
4. The login user must have rights for the “Warehouse #” specified.
Zone # |
The number identifying the zone in the warehouse (Alphanumeric, 10). Ensure that the zone number is in “Active” status and is defined in the “Create Warehouse Information” activity of the “Storage Administration” business component. Help facility available. |
Bin # |
The number identifying the bin in the zone (Alphanumeric, 10). This bin number must be in “Active” status and defined in the “Create Warehouse Information” activity of the “Storage Administration” business component. Help facility available. |
The system displays the following in the “Ownership & Storage Details” group box:
Trading Partner Name |
The name of the trading partner. |
Enter the following fields in the “Part Details” multiline:
STS |
Indicates “Status” of the line. The STS status will be 'Blank' for the Scrap Note document status “Fresh” and “Return”. Line status of the part to be scrapped. Displays “RTN” when the line status is Return. Displays the current line status without navigating to the last. However initial status like “Fresh” and “Confirmed” are not be displayed. |
Part # |
The number identifying the part that needs to be scrapped (Alphanumeric, 40). Mandatory. The part number is defined in the “Create Part Main Information” activity of the “Part Administration” business component, and in “Active” status. Help facility available. |
Note: The “Part #” is not validated when the “Scrap Note type” is “Miscellaneous”.
Part Desc. |
The name or description of the scrapped part. |
Note:
1. This field is mandatory when the “Scrap note type” is set as “Miscellaneous” and the “Part #” entered is not valid in Part Master.
2. When the “Scrap note type” is set as “Regular” the description given for the entered “Part #” is displayed.
Mfr. Part # |
The part number given by the manufacturer to the part that you wish to scrap off the inventory (Alphanumeric, 40). The manufacturer uses this number as reference. The system ensures that the value entered in this field is defined in the “Part Administration” business component. Help facility available. |
Mfr. # |
The code identifying the manufacturer of the part that you wish to scrap off the inventory (Alphanumeric, 45). Help facility available. |
Serial # |
The serial number of the part that you wish to scrap off the inventory (Alphanumeric, 40). If you are working in the Main base, the serial # of the part to be scrapped must not belong to a warehouse that is currently offline. Help facility available. |
Lot # |
The lot number of the part that you wish to scrap off from the inventory (Alphanumeric, 18). Help facility available. |
Qty |
The number of parts that need to be scrapped. Mandatory. (Numeric, 19). |
UOM |
The unit of measurement of the scrapped part. Help facility available. |
Stock Status |
Use the drop-down list box to select the user-defined stock status of the part. The system lists all the stock statuses for the part number defined in the “Create User Defined Stock Status” activity of the “User Defined Stock Status” business component. |
To Stock Status |
Use the drop-down list box to select the final stock status of the part. The system lists all the active stock statuses that are mapped to the transaction “Stock Transfer Conversion” and the status attribute "Scrap" set as "Yes" in the “Create User Defined Stock Status” activity of the “User Defined Stock Status” business component. |
Cur. Condition |
Use the drop-down list box to select the current condition of the part. The system lists the options “New Surplus”, “Phased-Out”, “Unserviceable”, “Serviceable”, “Overhauled” and “New". |
Note: When “Curr. Condition” is left blank, then the present condition for the given valid multiline Part #, Serial #/Lot # and storage info. combination. Is displayed.
Reason for Scrap |
Use the drop-down list box to select the reason for scrapping the part. Mandatory. The system lists all the reason codes defined for the Reason Type "Scrap Note" in the “Logistics Common Master” business component and in “Active” status. The system leaves the field blank by default. |
Repl. Action |
Use the drop-down list box to select the method to be adopted, to replenish the part quantity. Mandatory. The system lists the following options:

Note: When the Scrap Note Type is set as “Miscellaneous”, then the “Repl. Action” should be only “'None”.
Account Usage |
Use the drop-down list box to select the type of the account to be used. The system lists all the “Active” usages as defined in the 'Scrap Note' event in “Create Additional Account Definition” activity in the “Account Rule Definition” business component. If only one account usage value is listed in the drop-down list box, the system defaults the account usage value whichever is listed. Otherwise, the system leaves the field blank by default. Ensure that a value is selected in this field, only if the current business component interacts with the “Account Rule Definition” business component. |
Costing Usage |
Use the drop-down list box to select the type of costing usage. The system lists all the “Active” usages as defined in the 'Scrap Note' event in “Create Maintenance Definition” activity in the “Cost Center Rule Definition” business component. |
Mfr. Serial # |
The serial number provided by the manufacturer of the part. (Alphanumeric, 40). Note: The manufacturer serial # must be unique for the scrapped serial # and part #. Help facility available. |
Mfr. Lot # |
The lot number provided by the manufacturer of the part (Alphanumeric, 18). Help facility available. |
Remarks |
Any additional remarks about the scrap note. Typically, the reason for creating the scrap note or any additional information is entered (Alphanumeric, 2000). |
The system displays the following in the “Part Details” multiline:
Processing Comments |
This field is displayed only after the scrap note is processed. During processing, based on the processing action, the processing comments specified against the part level are displayed. |
Enter the following fields in the “Part Details” multiline:
Zone # |
The number identifying the zone in the warehouse specified in the “Ownership & Storage Details” group box. |
Note: The “Zone #” is mandatory if the selected “Warehouse #” is of type 'Normal'.
The “Zone #” must be valid for the selected “Warehouse #”.
Bin # |
The number identifying the bin in the zone specified in the “Ownership & Storage Details” group box. |
Note: The “Bin #” is mandatory if the selected “Zone #” is of type 'Normal',
The “Bin #” must be valid for the selected “Zone #”.
File Name |
Enter the name of the file used for document reference that is associated with the scrap note (Alphanumeric, 50). Help facility available. |
Other Particulars |
Any other particulars pertaining to the scrapped part. |
Disposal Note |
Indicate how the scrapped part needs to be disposed or notes for the person who would dispose the parts. |
Unit Cost |
The unit price of the part. |
Note: The “Unit Cost” is not entered when the “Scrap Note type” is set as 'Regular' and unit cost is determined based on the valuation method of the part.
The system displays the following in the “Part Details” multiline:
Value |
The total price for all the quantities.

Std. Purchase Price |
The standard rate of the part when it was purchased. |
Note: The standard purchase price for the part is defined in the “Part Administration” business component.
Currency |
The base currency for the standard purchase price of the part. |
Asset No. |
The asset number associated to the part is displayed. |
Note: When the “Part Expense Type” is set to “Capital”, then the “Asset No.” mapped for the corresponding Part Serial / Lot information in the “Maintenance Asset Tracker” business component is displayed.
Asset Tag |
The asset tag associated with the part is displayed. |
Note: When the “Part Expense Type” is set to “Capital”, then the “Asset Tag” mapped for the corresponding Part Serial / Lot information in the “Maintenance Asset Tracker” business component is displayed.
Book Value |
The book value associated for the “Asset No.” and “Asset Tag” combination mapped against the Part Serial/Lot combination is displayed. |
Expiry Date |
The expiry date of the part. |
Note: If the part to be scrapped has a shelf life then the expiry date of the Part #, Serial#/Lot# combination defined in the “Stock Maintenance” business component is displayed.
Part Type |
The part type could be of type “Raw Material”, “Component”, “Expendable”, “Tool”, “Consumable”, “Kit” or "Miscellaneous". |
Note: The Part type is defined in the “Part Administration” business component.
Expense Type |
The type of expense incurred when the part was purchased. |
Part Classification |
The category under which the part is classified. The part can be classified as “Rotatable”, or “Repairable”, or “Controllable”. |
Note: The Part classification is defined in the “Aircraft” business component.
Hazmat? |
Indicate whether the part to be scrapped is hazardous or not. The system displays the values “Yes” or “No”. |
Note:
The Hazmat information for the part is defined in the “Part Administration” business component.
When “Hazmat?” is “Yes”, click on the hyperlinked Hazmat status to navigate to the “View Hazmat Information” page.
Hazmat information is mandatory, if the “Hazmat Compliance for Scrap Note” is set as "Enforce Compliance" in the “Set Inventory Process Parameter” activity of the “Logistics Common Master” business component.
Component # |
The code identifying the component to which the part belongs. |
Note: The “Component #”is defined in the “Aircraft” business component for Part # and Serial #/Mfr. Serial # combination.
Comp. Replacement # |
A unique number identifying the component replacement transaction. |
Note: The last component replacement transaction number captured in the “Update Component Record” activity of the “Aircraft business component is displayed.
Reason for Removal |
The reason for a component replacement. |
Note: The “Reason for Removal” mapped to a “Component Replacement #” is defined in the “Record Component Replacement Details” activity of the “Component Replacement” business component.
Repair Disposition |
The disposition of the part when it was removed from the shop work order. |
Line # |
The number identifying the row in the multiline. For every part number entered, the system generates the line number sequentially on clicking the “Record/Update Scrap note” pushbutton. |
Line Status |
The processing status for each part specified in the scrap note. |
Note: If the line status is set to “Return” on processing the scrap note, then the 'Processing Comments' specified against the Part level is displayed.
Select a part in the multiline and click the “View Parts Information” link to navigate to the “View Parts Information” page in the “Part Administration” business component.
Select the “View File” to view the content of the file specified is the “File Name” field in the multiline.
Enter the following information in the “Other Details group box:
Comments |
Any remarks or comments pertaining to the scrap note (Alphanumeric, 2000). |
The system displays the following “Search Results” in the multiline:
Processing Comments |
This field is displayed only after the scrap note is processed. During processing, based on the processing action, the processing comments specified against the part level are displayed. |
Click the “Record/Update pushbutton” to record and save the scrap note details.
Click the “Confirm Scrap Note” to confirm the entered scrap note details.
The Scrap note status is updated as “Confirmed” and is ready for processing.
If “Scrap note type” is set as “Regular” and the “Ref. Document Type” is other than a “Repair Order”, then parts are allocated against the scrap note.
Click the “Cancel Scrap Note” to cancel the scrap note.
The system updates the status of the scrap note as “Cancelled”. Further transaction cannot be done in the scrap note.
To proceed, carry out one of the following
Select the "Upload Documents" link at the bottom of the page to upload any relevant documents pertaining to the facility object.
Refer to the topic “Upload Documents” in the “Object Attachments” business component for more details.
Select the “Process Scrap Note” at the bottom of the page to process the scrap note.
Select the “Record Hazmat Compliance” to record hazmat details for the part.
Select the “View Repair Order” to view the repair order details.
Note: A valid 'Repair Order' document must be entered in the 'Ref. Document #' field with the 'Ref. Document Type' selected as 'Repair Order'.
Select the “View Shop Work Order” to view the shop work order details.
Note: A Valid 'Shop Work Order' document must be entered in the 'Ref. Document #' field with the 'Ref. Document Type' selected as 'Shop Work Order'.
Select the “View Associated Doc. Attachments” link to view any associated document already uploaded for the scrap note.
Refer to the topic “Viewing consolidated document attachments” in the “Object Attachments” business component for more details.
Select the “View Serial/Lot Transaction History” to view the Part #/Serial Info/Lot Info for the selected part.
Select the “View NHA Part Info.” To view the NHA Part # information.
Note: A valid “NHA Part #” defined in the “Part Administration” business component must be entered in the “Reference Details - Removed From” group box.
Select the “View Part Supply Chain Performance” to view the part supply chain performance.
Note: Ensure a row is selected in the multiline, and the “Part #”, “NHA Part #” is defined in the “Part Administration” business component.
The system displays the following in the “Record Statistics” group box:
