Create Scrap Note – A summary of the activity

This activity allows you to create a Scrap Note. A Scrap Note is raised when a part has to be discarded for various reasons. Quality repairs not only ensure the safety of the passengers during flight, their timely return ensures that there is as little down time as possible, thus enhancing dispatch reliability. The parts have to scrapped due to one or more of the following reasons:

• Part failure and Beyond Economic Repair

• Reached Expiry Date

• Time for new part

When a part is scrapped, a scrap note is created and all the relevant details are recorded. Once all the details are completely recorded, the scrap note is confirmed. Then the maintenance planner ascertains whether the part needs to be scrapped based on the reason for removal and also checks that a suitable replenishment action is in place to replace the part. Once the need for the part to be scrapped is determined, then the person authorized to manage scrap note, processes the scrap note and a purchase requisition is generated automatically or manually for replacing the scrapped part.

Create a scrap note

You can create a scrap note to intimate the maintenance planner the need for scrapping a part.

• Use the “Manage Scrap Note” page to record all the details pertaining to the part.

Record or Update a scrap note

You can add or update details about the part to be scrapped.

• Use the “Manage Scrap Note” page to record all the details pertaining to the part.

• Click the “Record/Update Scrap Note” pushbutton.

Confirm a scrap note

Once all the details pertaining to the scrapped part is recorded, the scrap note should be confirmed before it goes for processing.

• Use the “Manage Scrap Note” page to record all the details pertaining to the part.

• Click the “Confirm Scrap Note” pushbutton.

Cancel a scrap note

You can also cancel a scrap note if the part need not be scrapped.

• Use the “Manage Scrap Note” page to record all the details pertaining to the part.

• Click the “Cancel Scrap Note” pushbutton.
