Associating Usages to Part/Service Group
This page allows you to associate parts to a part group. Tell me more.
Select the “Associate Usages” link in the “Create Part/Service Groups” page.
The “Manage Usage Association” page appears.
Enter the following in the “Manage Usage Association” group box:
Group Code |
Use the drop-down list box to select the part / service group to which you wish to associate the usages. The system lists all the group codes in “Active” status with the “Purpose” field is set as “HSN Code” or “SAC Code” in the “Create Part / Service Groups” page . |
The system displays the following fields:
Group Description |
The textual description of the part/service group. |
Controlled Group |
Indicates whether the part/service group is controlled. The value “Yes” means the part/service group is controlled and “No” indicates the part/service group is not controlled. |
Purpose |
The applicable purposes of the part/service group, which can be one of the following: "Pricing", "Taxes and Charges", "Product Line", "Capability Definition", "VAT", “HSN Code” and “SAC Code” . |
Click the “Get Details” pushbutton to retrieve the Usage Information details for the group code selected in the “Group Code” field.
The system displays the details of the group code that are already associated to the part/service group in the multiline .
Enter the following field in the “Usage Information” multiline:

The system displays the following field:
Group Description |

Controlled Group |
Indicates whether the part group is controlled. The value ”Yes” means the part group is controlled and “No” indicates the part group is not controlled. |
Purpose |
The applicable purposes of the part group, which can be one of the following: "Pricing", "Taxes and Charges", "Product Line", "Capability Definition" and, "VAT". |
Note: Controlled Group and Purpose attributes bear implications when you associate a part to a part group. If a part is associated to a Controlled Part Group with a specific purpose, then it cannot be associated to another “Controlled” part group with the same purpose. However it can be associated to any other “non-controlled” Part Group with different / same purpose.
If part group selected in the header is defined as Primary part group for the part, then the part cannot be deleted from the multiline
Click the “Get Details” pushbutton to retrieve the part association details for the part group selected in the “Group Code” field.
The system displays the details of the parts that are already associated to the part group in the multiline.
Enter the following fields in the “Part Information” multiline:
Part # |
The number identifying the part that you wish to associate to the part group (Alphanumeric, 40). Mandatory. The part number must be already defined in the “Create Create Parts Main Information” activity. Ensure that the part number is in “Active” status and is unique in the multiline. Help facility available. |
The system displays the following fields:
Part Description |
The textual description of the part. |
Part Type |
The type of the part |
Check the box in the to select the part number for deletion.
Click the Delete icon in the tool bar above the multiline to delete the part number.
Click the “Associate Parts” pushbutton to associate parts to the part group.
Note: If any attributes are mapped to a group code, then these attributes get associated to all the parts associated with the group.
To proceed, carry out the following:
Select the “View Part Main Information” link at the bottom of the page to view the part details.
“Create Parts Main Information” activity.
Associating parts to a part group – An overview
You can associate parts to the part group in this page. You can select the part group code and associate the parts. You can enter the part number and associate it to the part group code.
If any attributes are mapped to a part group, then these attributes get associated to all the parts associated with the group.
