This page allows you to modify the selected numbering type. Tell me more
Select the “Edit Numbering Type” link in the “Select Numbering Type” page. Alternatively, select the hyperlinked numbering type in the multiline of the same page.
The “Numbering Type Information” page appears.
The system displays the following:
Date Format |
The format in which the date fields are displayed in this page. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user id. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date format from the Enterprise Modeling business component by default. |
The system displays the following in the “Numbering Type Identification Details” group box:

The code identifying the numbering type. |
Modify the following fields if required:
Status |
Status of the numbering type. Use the drop-down list box to modify the status of the numbering type. The options available are “Active” and “Inactive”. The system displays the status of the numbering type by default.

Note: 1) You can change the status of the prefix-suffix combination only if the offline area is not terminated or force terminated. 2) If the status is modified to “Inactive”, then the modifications made to their respective fields are not saved. |

The textual description pertaining to the numbering type (Alphanumeric, 80). Mandatory. |
Modify the following fields, if required, in the “Pattern Details“ multiline:
Prefix |
The prefix for the numbering type (Alphanumeric, 6). Note: You can change the prefix of the offline area only the offline area is not terminated or force terminated. |
Suffix |
The suffix for the numbering type (Alphanumeric, 6). If the suffix is specified as "yyyy", while generating the document number, the current financial year will be set as the suffix. Note: You can change the suffix of the offline area only the offline area is not terminated or force terminated. |
Note: 1) Either the prefix or the suffix must be entered in the multiline. 2) The prefix or suffix can be modified only when numbers have not yet been generated using the numbering type and the prefix and suffix combination. 2) The combination of prefix and suffix must be unique across organizational units.
Starting No |
The starting number of the numbering type (Integer). This number must be greater than zero. |
Ending No |
The ending number of the numbering type (Integer). This number must be greater than the starting number. |
Note: 1) The starting and the ending number can be modified only when numbers have not yet been generated using the numbering type. 2)The ending number, if specified, must be greater than the last number generated.
Effective From |
The date starting from which the numbering type is effective (Date Format). This date must be in the same format as displayed in the “Date Format” field . Note: You can change the Effective From date only if 2) the offline area is not terminated or force terminated; 2) the numbers have not yet been generated using the numbering type. |
Effective To |
The date till which the numbering type is effective (Date Format). This date must be in the same format as displayed in the “Date Format” field and must be later than the ”Effective From” date. Note: You can change the Effective From date only if the offline area is not terminated or force terminated. |
The system displays the following field:
Last Generated No |
The last number generated by the system using this numbering type and prefix and suffix combination. |
Note: The date range set for a unique prefix-suffix combination must not overlap for a numbering type.
Offline? |
Use the drop-down list box to indicate whether the numbering type is applicable for the offline area. The system lists the following options: Yes and No. Note: This field is available only if Usage Mode under the category Offline Configurator Options in the Configure Offline Parameters activity of the Configurator component is 1 |
Offline Area # |
Use the drop-down list box to select the offline area for which the numbering type is valid. The system displays all Active offline areas defined in the OFMS Configurator component. This field is mandatory, if Offline ? is Yes. Conversely, do not specify any offline area, if Offline? is No. Note: This field is available only if Usage Mode under the category Offline Configurator Options in the Configure Offline Parameters activity of the Configurator component is 1. |
Note: 1) You can associate a prefix - suffix combination to a specific effective period only. However, for an offline area, more than one prefix - suffix combination can be associated with the same effective period. 2) A prefix - suffix combination defined for an offline area for a numbering type cannot be assigned to an offline area in any other numbering type. 3) For an offline area, the numbering type must be unique for a transaction. This implies that a numbering type cannot be assigned to more than one transaction for an offline area.
The multiline displays the following.
Offline Area Description |
The name/description of the offline area for which the numbering type is valid. Note: This field appears only if Usage Mode under the category Offline Configurator Options in the Configure Offline Parameters activity of the Configurator component is 1. |
Click the “Edit Numbering Type” pushbutton to save the modified details.
The system displays the following in the “Record Statistics” group box.
Created By |
The login id of the user who created the numbering type. |
Last Modified By |
The login id of the user who modified the numbering type last. |
Created Date |
The date on which the numbering type was created. |
Last Modified Date |
The date on which the numbering type was modified last. |
To proceed, carry out the following
Select the “Edit Transaction Mapping” link at the bottom of the page to modify the transaction type to which the numbering type is mapped.
Modifying numbering type – An overview
This page allows you to modify the selected numbering type. You can modify the numbering type description, prefix, suffix, starting number, ending number and the period during which the numbering type is effective. Only the details of those numbering types that are in “Active” status can be modified. You can also modify the status of the numbering type from “Active” to “Inactive” or vice versa using the “Status” drop-down list box.
The system displays the last number generated using the numbering type. The system also displays the name of the user who created / modified the numbering type and the date on which the numbering type was created / modified.
