Select “Create Numbering Class” link under the “Document Numbering Class” business component.
The “Numbering Type Information” page appears.
The system displays the following:
Date Format |
The format in which the date fields are displayed in this page. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user id. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date format from the Enterprise Modeling business component by default. |
Enter the following in the “Numbering Pattern” group box:
Numbering Type |
A unique code identifying the numbering type (Alphanumeric, 5). Mandatory. It can be a combination of alphabets and numbers. Numbering type must be unique across organizational units and transaction types. |
Num Type Description |
A textual description for the numbering type (Alphanumeric, 80). Mandatory. |
Enter the following in the “Pattern Details” multiline:
Prefix |
A prefix for the numbering type (Alphanumeric, 6). The prefix precedes the numbering type and is given for easy identification of the document number. It can be a combination of alphabets and numbers. |
Suffix |
A suffix for the numbering type (Alphanumeric, 6). The suffix succeeds the numbering type. It can be a combination of alphabet and numbers. If the suffix is specified as "yyyy", while generating the document number, the current financial year will be set as the suffix. |
Note: 1) Either the prefix or the suffix must be entered. 2) The combination of prefix and suffix must be unique across the numbering type. 3) If there are multiple installations of this component in different organizational units, the uniqueness of the prefix and suffix will depend on the organizational model.
Starting No |
The starting number of the numbering type (Integer). This number must be greater than zero. If the starting number is not specified, the system generates the numbering type sequentially starting from 1. |
Ending No |
The ending number of the numbering type (Integer). This number must be greater than the starting number. |
Effective From |
The date starting from which the numbering type becomes effective (Date Format). This date must be in the same format as displayed in the “Date Format” field. |
Effective To |
The date till which the numbering type remains effective (Date Format). This date must be in the same format as displayed in the “Date Format” field. This date must be later than the “Effective From” and the system date. |
Note: The date range set for a unique prefix-suffix combination must not overlap for a numbering type.
Offline? |
Use the drop-down list box to indicate whether the numbering type is applicable for the offline area. The system lists the following options: Yes and No. Note: This field is available only if Usage Mode under the category Offline Configurator Options in the Configure Offline Parameters activity of the Configurator component is 1 |
Offline Area # |
Use the drop-down list box to select the offline area for which the numbering type is valid. The system displays all Active offline areas defined in the OFMS Configurator component. This field is mandatory, if Offline ? is Yes. Conversely, do not specify any offline area, if Offline? is No. Note: This field is available only if Usage Mode under the category Offline Configurator Options in the Configure Offline Parameters activity of the Configurator component is 1. |
Note: 1) 1) You can associate a prefix - suffix combination to a specific effective period only. However, for an offline area, more than one prefix - suffix combination can be associated with the same effective period. 2) A prefix - suffix combination defined for an offline area for a numbering type cannot be assigned to an offline area in any other numbering type. 3) For an offline area, the numbering type must be unique for a transaction. This implies that a numbering type cannot be assigned to more than one transaction for an offline area.
The multiline displays the following.
Offline Area Description |
The name/description of the offline area for which the numbering type is valid. Note: This field appears only if Usage Mode under the category Offline Configurator Options in the Configure Offline Parameters activity of the Configurator component is 1. |
