Work units are tasks or standard procedures that rectifies a particular discrepancy. Tell me more.
Select the “Edit Fault Resolution Procedure” link in the "Create Fault Code" or “Edit Fault Code” page.
The “Edit Fault Resolution Procedure” page appears.
The system displays the following in the “Fault Details” group box:
ATA # |
The ATA chapter under which the selected fault code is arranged. |
Chapter Description |
The textual description of the ATA chapter. |
Fault # |
The fault code selected in the main page, for which work unit details must be entered. |
Fault Description |
The textual description of the selected fault code. |
Base Aircraft Model # |
The aircraft model number selected in the main page. |
Model Description |
The textual description of the selected aircraft model.Zoom facility available |
Enter the following:
Cause # |
Use the drop-down list box to select the cause code for which the work unit details must be entered. The system displays all the cause codes that are associated with the selected fault code. |
The system displays the following:
Cause Description |
The textual description of the cause code selected. |
Click the “Get Details” pushbutton, to retrieve the work unit details that are already entered for the selected fault code and cause code, in the multiline.
The system displays the work units that are already associated to the fault code, in the multiline. You can add or modify these work unit details.
Enter the following in the “Work Unit Details” multiline, to add work units:
Seq # |
The number identifying the sequence in which the work unit must appear in the fault isolation manual (Integer). Ensure the sequence number is a positive integer and is unique in the multiline. |
If you have left the sequence number blank, the system automatically assigns a sequence number to each row, in the order in which they are entered in the multiline, on clicking the “Edit Work Units” pushbutton. Ensure that you do not leave it blank for any of the work units occurring in between. |
If you wish to insert work units in the multiline and assign sequence number for them, click the “Renumber” pushbutton to arrange all the records in the ascending order of the sequence number and rearrange the records in multiples of five.
Eg: If five multiline records exist and sequence numbers are specified only for Rows 1 and 3, the system prompts you to enter the sequence number for Row 2. The system generates the sequence numbers for Rows 4 and 5 on clicking the “Renumber” pushbutton. If the sequence number for Row 3 is 15, then the system assigns the numbers 16 and 17 for Rows 4 and 5, respectively.
Work Unit # |
The code identifying the work unit (Alphanumeric, 30) to be associated to the fault code and cause code. Ensure that the work unit code entered here is already defined in the “Create Task“ activity under the “Maintenance Task” business component and is in “Active” status. |
Work Unit Type |
Use the drop-down list box to modify the work unit type as either “Task” or “Std. Procedure”. Ensure that the work unit type selected for a work unit code is the same as defined in the “Create Task“ activity under the “Maintenance Task” business component. The system sets the field to “Task” by default. |
The system displays the following field:
Work Unit Description |
The textual description of the work unit (Alphanumeric, 150). |
Note: The system ensures that the model effectivity specified for the selected work unit encompasses the model effectivity specified for the cause code.
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline, to mark the work unit details for deletion.
Click the “Delete” icon in the toolbar above the multiline, to delete the details of the selected work unit.
Note: The system deletes the association of the selected work units to the fault code and cause code.
Click the “ReNumber” pushbutton to re-generate the numbers.
Click the “Edit Fault Resolution” pushbutton, to save the modified work units details for the selected fault code and cause code.
Updating fault resolution procedure – An overview
Work units are tasks or standard procedures that rectifies a particular discrepancy. In this page, you can update the work units associated with the fault code and cause code. You can select the cause code for which you need to modify the work unit details. The work units must have already been defined in the “Maintenance Task” business component.
You can specify the sequence in which the work units must appear in the fault isolation manual. The system arranges the records in the multiline in the ascending order of the sequence number and renumbers the records in multiples of five. The system updates the work unit details for the selected fault code and cause code.

Specify cause code for modifying work units
The system lists all the cause code associated with the selected fault code. You can select the cause code and then modify the work unit details associated with the selected cause code.
Select the cause code in the “Cause #” field for which you need to modify the work unit details.
Modify the work unit details.
You can modify the work unit type as “Task” or “Std Procedure”.
Set the “Work Unit Type” field to “Task”, to change the work unit to “Task” type.
Set the “Work Unit Type” field to “Std Procedure”, to change the work unit to “Std Procedure” type.
You have the option of entering the sequence number or generating the sequence number automatically for the various work units in the multiline.
To enter the sequence number manually, enter the “Seq #” field in the “Work Unit Details” multiline.
To generate the sequence number automatically, leave the “Seq #” field blank in all the rows in the multiline.
The system automatically assigns a sequence number to each of them, in the order in which they are entered in the multiline, on clicking the “Edit Work Units” button.
If you wish to insert work units in the multiline and assign sequence number for them, click the “ReNumber” pushbutton to rearrange the existing rows in the ascending order of the sequence number. The system regenerates the sequence number in multiples of five, thereby enabling you to specify the sequence number for the newly added work units.
