Help on Discrepancies
This page allows you to retrieve discrepancies that are already defined. You can carry out the search using the discrepancy number, category, aircraft registration number etc. The system displays details such as the processing status, tracking status, component number, source document type and number.
Click the lens icon positioned next to the “Discrepancy #” field in the “Defer Discrepancies” page or “Identify Resolution Procedure” page of the current business component.
The “Help on Discrepancies” page appears.
The system displays the following fields:
Date Format |
The format in which the date fields appear in this page. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user ID. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date format from the “Enterprise Modeling” business component by default. |
Enter the following in the “Search Criteria” group box to search for a discrepancy. Data entry in the following fields is optional:
Search ID |
Use the drop-down list box to select the search ID. The system retrieves the discrepancies or maintenance reports based on the filter criteria specified for the search ID. Leave this field blank if you wish to enter the search criteria fields. |
Select the “Edit” link alongside, to modify the search criteria for the selected search ID.
Note: You can also create a new search ID using the “Create Adv. Search ID” link available at the bottom of the page.
Applicability |
Use the drop-down list box to select the applicability of the discrepancy. The system provides the options “Aircraft”, “Engine” and “Component”. Leave this field blank to retrieve all the discrepancies, irrespective of its applicability. |
Discrepancy # |
The discrepancy number to be retrieved (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the discrepancies with number similar to the value entered here. |
Log Item # |
The code identifying the log Item which contains the discrepancy details. (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the discrepancies and its details matching the Log Item # stored for the discrepancies. |
Discrepancy Description |
The textual description of the discrepancy (Alphanumeric, 255). You can enter the description in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the discrepancies with description similar to the description entered here. |
Discrepancy Category |
Use the drop-down list box to select the discrepancy category. The system displays all categories defined in the “Maintain Discrepancy Attributes” activity of the “Common Masters” business component. The system retrieves all the discrepancies that belong to the category selected here. Leave this field blank to retrieve all discrepancies, irrespective of the category. |
Aircraft Reg # |
The registration number of the aircraft for which you wish to retrieve discrepancies (Alphanumeric, 30). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the discrepancies reported for the aircraft registration number entered here. |
ATA # |
The ATA chapter on which discrepancies have been reported (Alphanumeric, 16). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the discrepancies reported for the ATA chapter entered here. |
Record Status |
Use the drop-down list box to select the record status of the discrepancy or maintenance report to be retrieved. The system lists the options “Pending”, “Pending Deferral”, “Deferred”, “Retired”, “Transferred”, “Planned” and “No Fault Found”. Leave this field blank to retrieve all the discrepancies, irrespective of the record status. |
Tracking Status |
Use the drop-down list box to select the user-defined tracking status defined for the discrepancy. The system lists all tracking statuses defined under the “Tracking Status” attribute in the “Maintain Discrepancy Attributes” activity of the “Common Masters” business component. Leave this field blank to retrieve all discrepancies, irrespective of the tracking status. |
Processing Status |
Use the drop-down list box to select the processing status of the discrepancy to be retrieved. The system lists the options “None”, “Under Analysis” and “Analyzed”. The system retrieves discrepancies of the status selected here. Leave this field blank to retrieve all the discrepancies, irrespective of their processing status. |
Part # |
The part number for which a discrepancy has been reported (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all those discrepancies that have been reported for the part number entered here. |
Part Serial # |
The serial number of the part for which a discrepancy has been reported (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all those discrepancies that have been reported for the part serial number entered here. |
Component # |
The number identifying the component for which a discrepancy has been reported (Alphanumeric, 90). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the discrepancies that have been reported for the component number entered here. |
Source Document Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the source document type for which discrepancies must be retrieved. The system lists the options “Journey Log”, “Tech Log”, “Hangar Work Order”, “Occurrence Report” and “Repair Order”.. Leave this field blank to retrieve all the discrepancies, irrespective of the source document type. |
Note: The source document types will be listed based on the Component Interaction Model. Contact your System Administrator for more details on business component interaction.

The source document number in which discrepancies have been reported (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all those discrepancies reported in the source document specified here. |

Applicability |
Indicates whether the discrepancy is applicable for “Aircraft”, “Engine” or “Component”. |
Aircraft Reg # |
The registration number of the aircraft against which discrepancies have been reported. |
Part # |
The part number for which a discrepancy has been reported. |
Part Serial # |
The part serial number for which a discrepancy has been reported. |
Component # |
The number identifying the component for which a discrepancy has been reported. |
Discrepancy # |
The number assigned to the discrepancy reported. |
Log Item # |
The code identifying the log Item which contains the discrepancy details. |
Discrepancy Description |
The textual description of the discrepancy reported. |
Discrepancy Type |
The type of discrepancy, which can be “PIREP”, “MIREP”, “Cabin” or “Non-Routine”. |
Discrepancy Category |
The user-defined category that has been defined for the discrepancy. |
Record Status |
The status of the discrepancy or maintenance report, which can be “Fresh” or “Pending”. |
Processing Status |
The processing status of the discrepancy, which can be “None”, “Under Analysis” and “Analyzed”. |
Tracking Status |
The user-defined tracking status defined for the discrepancy. |
ATA # |
The ATA chapter on which discrepancy has been reported. |
Fault # |
The fault code defined in the “Fault Isolation Manual” business component that is applicable to the discrepancy being reported. |
Source Document Type |
The type of the source document in which the discrepancy was reported, which can be “Visit package”, “Hangar Work Order”, “Journey Log”, “Technical Log” or “Component Work Order”. |
Source Document # |
The number identifying the source document. |
Reported By |
The name of the user who has reported the discrepancy. |
Reported Date |
The date on which the discrepancy was reported. |
Component # |
The component against which the discrepancy has been reported. |
Aircraft Model # |
The model number of the aircraft against which the discrepancy has been reported. |
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to select the discrepancy.
Click the “Ok” pushbutton.
