Using Online Help

This page allows you to select a model or an aircraft for approving or canceling the configuration details. Tell me more

The “Approve Model & Aircraft Configuration” page appears.

Search Option

Use the drop-down list box to select the configuration for approval or cancellation. The system provides the following options:

  • Model Configuration – Select this option to retrieve the model configuration details for approval or cancellation.

  • Aircraft Configuration – Select this option to retrieve the aircraft configuration details for approval or cancellation.

Leave this field blank to retrieve both model and aircraft configuration details for approval or cancellation. The system leaves the field blank by default.

Aircraft Model #

The aircraft model for which the configuration details are to be approved or cancelled (Alphanumeric, 20). You can enter the model number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the model configurations and that are similar to the value entered here.

Aircraft Reg #

The aircraft registration number for which the configuration details are to be approved or cancelled (Alphanumeric, 30). You can enter the aircraft registration number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the aircraft configurations that are similar to the value entered here.

Configuration Class

Use the drop-down list box to select the configuration class for which the configuration details are to be approved or cancelled. The system retrieves the model and the aircraft configuration that are associated to the configuration class entered here. Leave this field blank if you wish to retrieve configuration details irrespective of their configuration class. The system leaves the field blank by default.

Note: The system retrieves only those configurations that are in the “Fresh” status and for which configuration class exists.

The system does not retrieve aircraft records that are in “Frozen” status.

If all the search criteria fields are left blank, the system lists all the configurations defined in the organizational unit in the multiline.

Base Line Revision

Use the drop-down list box to indicate whether the configuration details must be baselined or not. The system provides the options “Yes” and “No” and sets the field to “Yes” by default.

Note: You can baseline the configuration only when the configuration is selected for approval. The system maintains a copy of the baselined version of the configuration details with a new revision number. If a baseline version already exists for a configuration, the previous version is also retained with the respective revision number and the status set as “Revised”.

Approve Lower levels?

Use the drop-down list box to approve the configuration details of all the subsequent levels of the model or aircraft configuration.

Note: Ensure that you have the required access rights to approve all subsequent levels of the part numbers associated to the position codes. If both the “Approve Lower Levels” and “Base Line Revision” fields are set to “Yes”, the system maintains a copy of all the configurations of the part numbers at all levels with their respective revision numbers.

The system fills in the following fields in the multiline:

Aircraft Model #

The number identifying the aircraft model.

Aircraft Reg #

The aircraft registration number.

Note: This field appears blank if you are searching for the model configuration.

Configuration Class

The configuration class associated to the model or aircraft.

Assembly Status

The assembly status for the configuration. The system displays one of the following:

  • “Not Applicable” – For model configuration records.

  • “Complete” – Indicates that all the active position codes with “Component Mandatory” set as “Yes”, have components attached to them.

  • “Dormant” – Indicates that only some active position codes with “Component Mandatory” set as “Yes”, have components attached to them. This is applicable for aircraft configuration records.

  • “Error” – Indicates that the component attached to any one of the active position codes across all levels in the configuration, is not the intended component.

New Revision #

The revision number of the configuration which is in “Fresh” status. The baseline version will be maintained with this revision number.

Current Revision #

The revision number of the configuration for approval or cancellation, which is in “Active” status.

Comments

Any additional remarks pertaining to the approval or cancellation of the model and aircraft configuration.

Select All

Check this box to approve or cancel all the configurations listed in the multiline. When this box is checked, the system sets the status as “Active” for all the approved configurations, and the status as “Cancelled” for all cancelled configurations, irrespective of the configuration selected in the multiline.

Note: If the “Select All” field is not checked, ensure that atleast one row is selected in the multiline.

The system ensures the following while approving the model and aircraft configuration:

Approve configuration(s)

Note: If the aircraft condition is "Operational", you can approve the aircraft configuration and model configuration, even when no component is attached to the mandatory position code and the attachment status of the mandatory position codes is "Unknown", "New" or "Error".

Cancel configuration(s)

Selecting aircraft model and aircraft configuration for approval – An overview

Approve Mode & Aircraft Configuration - A Summary of the activity

This page allows you to select a model or an aircraft for approving or canceling the configuration details. You can search for the configuration details by providing filter criteria such as the aircraft model number, aircraft registration number or configuration class. The details of the selected configuration, such as the aircraft model number, aircraft registration number, configuration class number associated to the model or aircraft, the new revision number, the current revision number and comments are displayed.

You can activate or cancel the configurations in bulk or select a particular configuration to be activated or cancelled. The status of the configuration changes to “Active” or “Cancelled” depending upon the action performed.

You are also provided with the option of setting the configuration as a baseline configuration. If the configuration is set as baselined, the system maintains the configuration details with a new revision number for future reference. If baseline version already exists for the configuration, it will also be retained with the respective revision numbers and with the status set as “Revised”.

In this page, you can also approve the configurations at the lower levels of the model number and aircraft.

Indicate baseline configuration

A configuration can be set as baseline configuration. If the configuration is set as baselined, the system maintains the configuration details with a new revision number for future reference. If baseline version already exists for the configuration, it will also be retained with the respective revision numbers and with the status set as “Revised”. You can baseline the configuration only when the configuration is selected for approval.

Approve lower level configurations

You can approve the configuration details of all the subsequent levels of the model or aircraft configuration.

Approve model or aircraft configuration

You can approve the model or aircraft configurations that are in “Fresh” status. The configurations in fresh status on approval attain the “Active” status.

Cancel model or aircraft configuration

You can cancel the model or aircraft configurations that are in “Fresh” status. The system sets the model or aircraft configuration to “Cancelled” status.
