Setting entities for data replication

Setup Entities for Data Replication - A summary of the activity

Unified Glossary

Basics of using a typical web page

Using Online Help

The “Setup Entities for Data Replication” page appears.

The system displays the following:

Entity Setup

The status of the entity setup process, which could be “Pending” “In-Progress” or “Completed”.

Replication Entities Governed at

The system displays “Enterprise Level” which indicates that entities identified for replication will be replicated across all the operating units participating in data replication at Enterprise level.

Functional Area

Use the drop-down list and select the functional area associated to each entity participating in data replication. The system lists the options “All”, “Maintenance”, “Materials”, “Finance”, “Sales” and “HRMS”.

By default, the system displays “All”.

Entity

The entity that is to be replicated across operating units. The system lists all the available entities corresponding to the Functional Area selected, along with the value “All”. If Functional Area is selected as “All”, the system lists all the entities available across all the Functional Areas.

By default, the system displays “All”.

Show Related Entities

Check this box to retrieve and display all the related entities (e.g. UOM, Part Group) specific to the selected entity, on search. The related entities are retrieved and displayed based on the functional area selected.

The system displays the following in the “Entity Details” multiline:

Functional Area

The functional area associated to the entity.

Entity

The entity that is to be replicated across operating units.

Replication Strategy

Use the drop-down list box and select one of the Replication Strategy to be set for the entity. Mandatory.

  • Full – Select this option to indicate that the entity is replicated on creation and modification of record. The source OU will only be able to modify the replicated record. The target OU won’t be able to modify the record. In case target OU tries to modify the record, the system will validate.

  • Initial – Select this option to indicate that the entity is replicated only once on creation / activation of record. Subsequent to that, any active participating OU will be able to modify the record and the modification will not be replicated.

  • None – Select this option to indicate that the entity will not be replicated.

You cannot  upgrade the Replication Strategy, if one or more operating units participating in data replication have been initialized or if Configurator Setup is in "Completed" status. . Downgrading of Replication Strategy is allowed after initialization of OU only if the parameter ‘‘Allow modification of Data Replication Setup even if the Configurator Setup is "Completed"?’ is set as '1' in the “Set Options for Data Replication” activity. The Replication Strategy of an entity must be same or one level higher than the Replication Strategy of all the related Entities.

By default, the system leaves the field blank.

Remarks

Any remarks related to definition of entity.

The system displays the following:

Error Message

The error message if any, displayed while setting up entities.

Entity Related to

All the entities related to the entity selected in the header are displayed here.

Data Element Setup Status

The data element setup status, which could be one of the following:

  • “Pending” – Indicates that Replication Strategy is not defined for any Data Element corresponding to the Entity.

  • “Inprogress” – Indicates that Replication Strategy is defined only for some of the Data Elements corresponding to the Entity.

  • “Completed” – Indicates that Replication Strategy is defined for all the Data Elements corresponding to the Entity.

Created By

The login ID of the user who created the record.

Created Date

The date and time at which the record was created.

Last Modified By

The login ID of the user who last modified the record.

Last Modified Date

The date and time at which the record was last modified.

Note: The system displays an error if any concurrent user attempts to modify the entity details.

The system performs the following:

Note: If the above parameter is set as ’0’, the system does not allow the user to add new information and / or modify any existing information in the “Setup Entities for Data Replication” activity.
