Basics of using a typical web page

Using Online Help

The “What If Analysis” page appears.

The system displays the following field:

Date & Time Format

The format in which the date and time fields are displayed in this page. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user ID. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date and time format from the “Enterprise Modeling” business component by default.

Work Center #

Use the drop-down list box to select the work center (Alphanumeric, 30). The system lists all the work centers mapped to the login user in the “Work Center” business component. By default, the system leaves the field blank.

Data entry in this field is mandatory if aircraft registration number is not entered.

Aircraft Registration #

The registration number of the aircraft (Alphanumeric, 30). Ensure that the registration number is defined in the “Aircraft” business component.

Data entry in this field is mandatory, if work center is not entered.

Aircraft Model #

The model number of the aircraft (Alphanumeric, 20). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the work centers with numbers similar to the value specified here.

To view the “Gantt Chart” depicting the “What If Analysis” performed for the aircraft or work center

The system displays the following in the “Work Unit Details” group box:

Note: If the work center is entered in the “Search Criteria” group box, the system displays the “What If Analysis“ chart for all the aircrafts associated with the work center.

Note: If the aircraft registration number is entered in the “Search Criteria” group box, the system identifies the work center to which the aircraft reg. # is associated with and displays the “What If Analysis“ chart for all the aircrafts associated with the work center.

For each aircraft under the maintenance base, using the “Gantt Chart”, you can view the graphical representation of all the planned work units applicable for the aircraft as a time bar, based on the planned start date and time (in hours), and planned end date and time (in hrs) over the period specified. The system displays each work unit in the form of a time bar indicating the planned start date/time, and planned end date/time of the work units. The system will display all the pending work units due for execution for an aircraft in a single row, along with the planned discrepancy work units.

If a visit package is created for the aircraft, the system represents the same in a “grey” colored band, with the visit package date and time as the planned start and end date and time. All the work units of the visit package will be displayed as overlapping time bars. All planned activities are displayed in “green” color bar strips and unplanned activities in “yellow” color bar strips.

Note: For a work center, if more than one work unit has the same schedule start/end date and time, then the work units will be displayed as “overlapping” time bars.

Note: The system retrieves the values in the “Utilization Values” multiline, only if an Aircraft Reg. # or a Work Center # with an Aircraft Reg. # is entered.

The system retrieves the following:

  1. The earliest start date of all the working units in the “Gant Chart” to the “From Date” field and the latest of all the dates to the “To Date” field for each row of the parameter information.

  2. The utilization values will be retrieved or saved based on the “Time Display Format” selected for the parameter in the “Aircraft” business component.

Note: By default, the system will retrieve the parameter values, from and to date and the utilization value from the respective aircraft maintenance program or component maintenance program.

Note: If the search criteria is based on “Work Center #”, the system will retrieve the “Utilization Values” only if the work center is associated with an aircraft.

Parameter

The parameter based on which the “What If Analysis” must be performed for the aircraft (Alphanumeric, 40).

Help facility available

The system displays the following “Utilization Values” multiline:

Parameter Description

The textual description of the parameter.

From Date

The starting date from which you would like to perform the “What If Analysis” for the aircraft, by varying the parameter utilization value (Date Format).

Ensure that the date entered is same as or earlier than the “To Date”.

To Date

The ending date till which you would like to perform the “What If Analysis” for the aircraft, by varying the parameter utilization value (Date Format).

The system displays the following “Utilization Values” multiline:

UOM

The unit of measurement of the parameter.

Utilization Value

The utilization value, based on which the “What If Analysis” must be performed for the aircraft (Decimal).

Note: Ensure at least one record is entered in the multiline.

On clicking the “Analyze Impact” pushbutton, the system  performs the following:

Note: The system will not a display error message, if the entered value is not in compliance with the Time Display Format.

What If Analysis  – An overview

“What If Analysis” enables the planner to visualize and envisage the different scenarios with respect to distribution of planned work units on a time frame. With this information, planner can simulate forecast and make decisions in managing materials and resources executing various maintenance activities in a maintenance base, by varying the parameter utilization values. The planner performs this analysis to maintain the details regarding the availability of material and resources in case of future emergencies, or to allocate the required part and resources to some other maintenance base (if there exists a demand).

“What If Analysis” facilitates the central planner to do the following:
