Creating a planned visit package
This page allows you to create a visit package for an aircraft. Tell me more
Select the “Create New Visit Package” link in the “Select Work Units” page.
The “Create Visit Package” page appears.
The system displays the following:
Date Format |
The format in which the date fields are displayed and to be entered, in this page. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user ID. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date format from the "Enterprise Modeling" business component by default. |
The system displays the following fields in the “Aircraft Details” group box:

The aircraft for which the visit package is created |
Aircraft Model # |
The model to which the aircraft belongs |
The system displays the following field in the “Visit Package Details” group box:
Visit Package # |
The unique number that identifies the visit package. This is generated by the system when you click the “Create Visit Package” pushbutton. |
Enter the following fields in the “Visit Package Details” group box:
Execution Unit |
Use the drop-down list box to select the organization unit where the visit package is to be executed. |
Title |
The description of the visit package (Alphanumeric, 150). Mandatory. Zoom facility available. |
Visit Category |
Use the drop-down list box to select the category of the visit package. Mandatory. The system lists all the visit categories defined in the “Create Visit Category” activity of the current business component that are in the “Active” status. |
Grounding Date |
The date on which the aircraft is grounded for the execution of maintenance activities (Date Format). Mandatory. By default, the system displays the earliest of the schedule dates planned for the work units in the visit package. |
Note: The grounding date should not be later than the maximum of the latest schedule date and not earlier than the least of the earliest schedule date of the selected work units.
The grounding date is displayed either in GMT or local time, based on the option set in the “Time Zone” systems parameter.
If the grounding date is postponed, then the start and end dates planned for all the work units in the visit package will also be postponed.
The system displays the following field when you click the “Create Visit Package” pushbutton.

Enter the following fields:
Primary Work Center # |
The place of maintenance execution to which the visit package is allotted (Alphanumeric, 30). Mandatory. Ensure that the work center is valid and is in the “Active” status for the specified execution unit. |

Priority |
Use the drop-down list box to select the level of urgency of the visit package. The system lists all the priority descriptions defined in the “Create Priority Numbers” activity of the “Common Masters” business component. |

Preparatory Time |
The preparatory time required for the execution of a work unit in the visit package |
Enter the following fields:
Work Center Capability Check |
Use the drop-down list box to specify whether work center capability check is required or not. Mandatory. The system lists the options, “Required” and “Not Required”. |

Maintenance Event |
Use the drop-down list box to select the maintenance event whose work units must be considered as a part of the visit package. The system lists all the maintenance events that have been defined in the “Maintain Maintenance Events” activity of the “Common Master” business component. Leave the field blank if you do not wish to specify the maintenance event. |
Note: Ensure that the maintenance event selected is defined in the primary maintenance program defined in the “Aircraft Maintenance Program” business component. |

Include Event Jobs? |
Use the drop-down list box to specify whether the work units specified for the maintenance event must be made a part of the visit package. Mandatory. Set the field to “Yes” to include all the work units defined for the maintenance event as a part of the visit package. Otherwise, set the field to “No”. |
Note: If you have set the “Include Event Jobs?” field to “Yes”, the system associates all the work units that have been defined for the maintenance event in the primary maintenance program defined in the “Aircraft Maintenance Program” business component, on clicking the “Create Visit Package” pushbutton.
Customer Order # |
The number identifying the customer order (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the customer order number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all customer order numbers that are similar to the number entered here. Help facility available. |
The system displays the following in the “Work Scope Details” multiline:

Note: If the work unit is associated with a maintenance report, the system retrieves only those work units for which the associated maintenance report is in “Analyzed” processing status. |

Select a work unit in the multiline.
Click the Delete icon provided in the tool bar above the multiline, to delete the work unit selected in the multiline.
Click the “Create Visit Package” pushbutton, to create the visit package.
Note: The system displays an error message, if any other concurrent user attempts to simultaneously modify the details of the work units displayed in the multiline.
The system performs the following:
Creates the visit package and sets the status as “Draft”.
Changes the status of the work units, whose source is “Aircraft Forecast”, “Deferral List” “Engineering” or “Component Forecast”, from “Pending" to “Assigned”.
If the work unit type is either “Aircraft Work Package” or “Component Work Package”, the system breaks them down into their constituent work units as standard procedures and/or tasks considering the seasonal (off-line) work units and additional work units as defined under expanded work scope of aircraft specific maintenance program.
Checks for work center capability and hierarchy for the work units.
Updates the visit category selected in the “Visit Category” field as the plan item group, to all the tasks including the tasks within the standard procedures
The material and resource requirements identified for the work units at the task/standard procedure/work package level, are updated to the visit package from the “Component Maintenance Program” business component. If the material and resource requirement details are not available in the “Component Maintenance Program” business component, the system retrieves the details from the “Maintenance Task” business component.
For the work units that are associated with maintenance reports, the system copies all other work units associated with the maintenance report into the visit package. The system also copies the part and resource requirements identified for all the tasks, sub tasks and standard procedures identified for these work units.
Updates the stock status of all the parts required, to “Accepted”.
Note: Updates the stock status as “PBH”, if the following conditions are satisfied:
a. If the aircraft is mapped to the supplier as “PBH” and the requested part or its next higher assembly for the aircraft is identified as “PBH” part for the supplier
b. if the component, or the next higher assembly of the component being requested for the component replacement job or on wing job, is identified as “Under PBH” for supplier.
c. If the component’s EIPN (End Item Part Number) is identified as “Under PBH” for the supplier.
Ensures that only Maintenance Reports in “Analyzed”’ processing status are assigned to a newly created visit package.
Updates the “Job Class” of the work units as “Corrective” in the ”Visit Package” business component.
Updates the newly added work units with the planning status as “Unplanned” to the Customer Order# in the “Customer Order” business component, if a value is entered in the “Customer Order#” field.
On assignment of the work units with the “Job type” as “Component Removal” to the visit package, the system does the following check:
If the option for auto preclusion of call-outs is set as required in the “Set Options” activity, then system checks whether any component removal jobs already exists for the corresponding parent components of the components being assigned now. If so, the system automatically precludes the work unit for the removal of the child component and sets its preclusion status to “Precluded” and the preclusion status of the work unit of the parent component to “Superseded”.
On assignment of the work units with the “Job Type” as “On Wing” to the visit package, the system does the following check:
If the option for auto preclusion of on-wing jobs is set as required in the “Set Options” activity, then the system checks whether any on-wing jobs already exists for parent components of the components being assigned now. If so, the system automatically precludes the work unit for the on-wing job of the child component and sets its preclusion status to “Precluded” and the preclusion status of the work unit of the parent component to “Superseded”.
Click the “Confirm Visit Package” pushbutton to confirm the visit package that is in a “Draft” status.
Note: The system confirms the visit package and sets its status to “Fresh”. Only a visit package that is in a “Fresh” status can be processed by the visit planner.
Select the “View Execution Center Work Load” link, to view the workload of the execution center before allocating work units to that work center.
Select the “Execution Center Capability” link, to view the capabilities of an execution center for a particular work unit, before allocation.
Note: Select at least one work unit in the multiline, to view the execution center capabilities.

You can select the execution unit to which the visit package is allocated. The visit package will be executed in the work center of the execution unit specified here. You can categorize the visit package using the visit package categories defined in the “Create Visit Category” activity. You can also set the urgency level at which the visit package needs to be executed.
Set the appropriate option in the “Execution Unit” field of the “Visit Package Details” group box, to specify the execution unit for the visit package.
Set the appropriate option in the “Visit Category” field of the “Visit Package Details” group box, to categorize the visit package.
Set the appropriate option in the “Priority” field of the “Visit Package Details” group box, to specify the urgency level of the visit package.
Enable work center capability check
You can specify whether the system needs to check the maintenance capabilities of a work center, before assigning a work unit.
Set the “Workcenter Capability Check” field as “Required”, if you wish to check the maintenance execution capabilities of a work center before assigning a work unit.
Set the “Workcenter Capability Check” field as “Not Required”, if you do not wish to check the maintenance execution capabilities of a work center.
Create Visit Category of the “Compliance Tracking & Control” business component.
“Create Priority Numbers” under the “Common Masters” business component.
Creating a planned visit package – An overview
This page allows you to create a visit package for an aircraft. A visit package is a document through which a major check on an aircraft is planned and executed. The visit package is an aggregation of all the maintenance activities that need to be accomplished during the visit of an aircraft to the maintenance execution facility.
In this page, you can specify the execution unit, description, category, primary work center and the priority of the visit package. You can also specify the grounding date of the aircraft, to execute the visit package.
This page also displays the work units selected in the “Work Unit Selection” page. You can view the workload of an execution center or the maintenance execution capabilities of the work center for a selected work unit.
The system creates the visit package for the work units displayed and sets the status of the visit package as “Draft”.
You can also confirm the visit package in this page. On confirmation, the system sets the status of the visit package to “Fresh”. Only a visit package that is in a “Fresh” status can be processed by the visit planner.
